Title: Video Of 0100 Warming Up
Post by: 67411F--0100-ENG. on April 18, 2020, 01:02:19 PM
Hello Everyone,

Here is a video of 0100 warming up to go for a ride in December of 2018.  I am still waiting for Billups Classic Cars to finish up a few things on the car.  This COVID-19 mess has fouled things up.  I hope 0100 will be back home before too much longer.

Thanks,
Eric

Nice Eric!

Listening to all your cars idle, then running mine, the thought occurred to me that my neighbors put up with me because they are terrified of me? I can't think of any other reason?

Maybe that's good? A balance of terror is like nuclear deterrence I think?

Even when the cops come and look, they kinda tip toe around?

I was explaining to one that I didn't want them to think the worst of me. Then one turned and said, "we're ok with you, we had an instructor in the Academy just like you. He saluted and the two of them left".

I suppose that kind of "respect" from anyone is good? I'm still in shock about that. :o

Just when I think I don't need to own a 67 Shelby, I see a couple videos of the sights and sounds of them that remind me I really do have to own one! Nice car!

Beauty. And in red too! I have you a thumbs up to counter whoever gave you a thumbs down. I mean Why a thumbs down for a red 67 G.T. 500. Why? Just walk away I say to them. Just walk away and we can end the horror. We only want the gasoline...just...the gasoline. -"Lord Humongous-The Ayatolla of rock n' rolla"

Eric, it looks and sound great!

Was "Tom Mac" able to provide you with any cool details about your car, back in the day when he drove it?

Hello Van,

Thanks.  No, unfortunately Tom apparently had a different car.

The car looks great and sounds greaterer. I put on head phones and turned up the volume.

It doesn't sound like most stock '67 GT500s I've heard. How are the engine and exhaust configured?

Hello Steve,

The "driver" engine in the car is 445 cubic inches with 10.5:1 compression and a high lift/short duration solid lifter roller cam and a roller rocker arm system.  Exhaust is JBA SS headers then into a 2.5" diameter system with an X-pipe and Spin Tech mufflers.  The "show" motor is still at Jason's shop in Oklahoma.

Thanks,
Eric

I'm surprised it has an x-tube? I thought it sounded like it had no balance tube.

Mine sounds similar but the exhaust knocked the cap off of my sons head walking about 10 feet behind it.

The exhaust pulses are strong.

That's about 800-850 rpm?

I'm using this cam. It sounds very similar.

Hello Doug,

I believe the car was idling at about 950 rpms.  The carbs were in need of work at the time.  They have since been blueprinted and rebuilt by Drew Pojedinec.  I hope the engine will respond well to the carb changes.  I have attached the spec sheet for the custom roller camshaft.

Thanks,
Eric

Stock height? They won't clear on a lowered car with the dropped A-arms.

Incredible car! I'm interested in the license tag with the SAAC logo. Is that a Colorado collector plate issued by the state or did you put a sticker on it?

In NYS, the license plate is a legal document and property of the state. You cannot alter it.

I was going to put periods on my license plate between the GT and got WARNED by a cop friend that the car could be confiscated as a result.

Just a thought. :)

Eric, your fenders rolled?

Yes, they have been rolled.

Here is a photo of the car that was taken in January of this year.  Those repro Speedway 350s look cool, but they are so skinny and offer very little traction.  They do make really smokey burnouts and long black marks on the runway just like it did on the dragstrip at Carlsbad Raceway back in November of 1966!

Thanks,
Eric

I have the original TMs on my Shelby, but I don't know of a single car that had them installed at SA except possibly the Super Snake. I asked Bob about this years ago.
Title: Re: Video Of 0100 Warming Up
Post by: shelbydoug on May 01, 2020, 09:34:29 AM
My car was drag raced by previous owners. When I got it, it had "railroad iron" traction bars on it and the front TM bracket welded to the chassis.

Incidentally. I'd recommend replacing the TM tubing with 3/16 DOM tubes. The TM tubes are too thin for 500's.

I've seen lots of 66 GT350's with bent arms. Some, just from being strapped down to a trailer with.

I would EXPECT a good set of slicks to bend them up pretty good.

Hello,

The front TM brackets (no bars) were on the car when we bought it on 12/27/79.  I do not know if the brackets were installed while the car was an Engineering car, or if they were installed by a previous owner.  The car needs the bars, so I bought new bars from TMC and installed them back in the 1980s

Thanks,
Eric

Hello Roy,

The engine in the car is the "driver engine".  It has a 6.5 quart aluminum COBRA T-Pan on it.  The "show engine" has the correct steel oil pan on it.

Thanks,
