Looking at all the pictures of old events reminds me of conventions past I have attended. I've put up photos of a few of the early ones on my website. I always like to identify the cars in the pictures if possible. SAAC 2 was the first convention I had attended. I was just blow away and in awe of the sight of so many Shelbys and Cobras in one place. I got my first ride in a Shelby at that convention not realizing that two months later I'd be the proud owner of a 1967 G.T.500 which I own to this day.

I did have my G.T.500 at that event but somehow I missed taking a picture of it. By that time my G.T.500 had a stablemate in a G.T.350H. Life was good.
Some of the cars are identified but many are not. I'd appreciate it if members would take a look and take a stab at identifying any cars that aren't. I'm sure that Cobra Ned will be able to ID most if not all Cobras. The man is simply amazing. Thanks in advance for taking a look.

The dark green '67 GT500 (image "SAAC 2 - R2 -02") with "GT 500" on the New York license plate, car #1999 is the same car in the Automobile Quarterly, on a two-page spread, that had an article about Shelby Mustangs . There was also a poster of the cars in the story.

Yes, it was the same featured car. Henry was the one who gave me my first ride in a Shelby.
Roy, you asked for possible Cobra IDs. Here is what I noted:
SAAC-2 R1-01 (red 289 on trailer) CSX 2093
R2-09 (blue 289) CSX 2126
R2-15 (black 427) CSX 3208
R3-06 (green 427) CSX 3341
SAAC-4 R1-13 (black/gold 260 Cobra) CSX 2032
R2-04 (engine bay of brown 289 Cobra w/ Paxton) CSX 2089
I have some thoughts on later conventions in your photos as well:
SAAC-5 The blue 427 S/C is CSX 3045
SAAC-8 The silver 427 is CSX 3244
SAAC-8 The blue/white "427 S/C" is actually a modified 289 Cobra, CSX 2189
Hope this proves helpful in your efforts to ID some cars at early conventions!

R2-03, R3-14 & 15 '67 GT350 belonged to my cousin and,
R3-12, '66 GT350 #2295 belonged to me at the time. I cut the front valance to simulate the R cooling feature.
I since bought '68 GT500, and still own #01425, but a really miss #2295. I'm just down the road from you, in Collegeville.

I don't think he's a/an SAAC member. I told him that his car was photographed and shown on the forum. The car looks way better in person than in photographs. I also sent him a link, for easy access. I'll allow him to disclose that kind of information to his comfort level.
We had lots of fun with our cars, back in the day.

Gee, I must be getting old. I seem to remember driving SFM6S2295 in photo R3-12 to Hershey. I had purchased it from Fred Pazzano? in Maryland, June, 1977. Steve, owning multiple Sheby's and the aging process makes it easy to mix up times and places. At least u still own a Shelby.
