Title: Fake pins - Buyer beware
Post by: A-Snake on May 26, 2020, 11:59:10 AM
For those that may not know, the pins in this Ebay ad never existed in the 1965 to 1967 time frame. There was one produced for Cobras in 1965 but it isn't this one ;)

The genuine pins have a mfg name makers mark screen onto the end of the tab.The ones in the ebay ad are part of a large purchase of left over repro pins (Valley Ford parts) a couple years ago on ebay . The seller made up a nice display board to help showcase the pins. I think he says just enough to hope people think that they may be legitimate.

Nah, if he was he would have done the display board with a sharpie. Probably bought them from pookie and just trying to get some of his money back.

To add to Bob's description, the original 1965 Cobra pin has a different shaped hole in the tab and the whole curvature of the pin is different.

This is my friend Mark B.  He has been a stand up guy in all my other transactions.  I'm sure he believes they are real, I will "enlighten him" as to the situation.
A lot of folks are fooled by these pins, I sure was before Bob set me straight on them.

He has already removed the listing as incorrect.  Certainly not Pookie.

That guy bought like a huge amount from a ebay auction sometime back . He will be selling them for some time .At one point before he made his poster board presentation he was selling the set for like 50.00. Or maybe he sold the hoard to another and he did the presentation board. I didn't pay too much attention with ebay names in this case because they were repro trinkets.

Yes that is a repro .Valley Ford Parts who was the one who had them made did them 25 or 30 years ago. They sold there remain stock a couple years ago and I assume the ebay seller has a bunch more.
