Title: Man, I like this car! 1966 Convertible Factory GT
Post by: rbarkley on June 11, 2020, 01:52:05 PM
Looks like a great platform for a restoration - California car.  Factory 76B, Silver Frost with deluxe red pony.  Nice!
However, hard to justify the 39K asking price.

Yes, the asking price is extremely steep.

Not a K-code and not a 4-speed = not a chance of selling at that price.

Did you see the rather lack luster '65 convertible I posted that sold for $27,500?

Is there suddenly a jump in first generation Stangs?

Yea, its a great combo.  A few years ago just about 20 or so miles from this one,  I saw the same combo on a 65/6 4 speed GT fastback.  The asking price on that one was also incredibly high.

It's a great time to buy-if you have some pesos and can find the right deal.  If this thing is original (and it looks the part), rust free and running (a bonus by my thinking), 25k all day long.  It's a cool car esp. with the pony interior.  Buy it right (i.e., thorough inspection)-clean it up and enjoy it.  If all goes to plan-that's where you'll have the most equity-maybe in and out at 40k imo.  Provided of course, you can get the owner to respond-which he hasn't yet.

$40 to buy another 40-50 to restore and worth 60 all day long. Now you need a good story to make up the loss. It's been said for a long time there were 6 GT350 Convertibles - also that only 4 were built sooooooo..... this is one of the lost convertibles. Presto some drunk at Barrett Jackson will spring a 1/4 million on it.
