Do not have my registry’s available but was looking at a ‘68 Shelby that claims to “be real”. The Shelby vin plate looks to good.
The plate is 8T02J180134-00938. Was looking for a friend. If it was a ‘67 or ‘66 I’d know, but I have no back ground on ‘68s
Thanks

I would say you have some numbers wrong or someone has a problem, because 938 does not match that Ford VIN.

Heres the Shelby plate on 938:

8T03J180134 was originally an Acapulco Blue, parchment interior, convertible Mustang, not a Shelby.

Do you have any photos of the offending vehicle?

The air car is Red/ Black interior. I did not get a picture of the car. The fake Shelby vin tag was the first give away. Too new and crisp, then Recaro seats, wood steering wheel etc. The car was in Vegas.

I'm going to tell ya, without folks like Pete here on the SAAC, there is NO WAY I'd ever consider buying a Shelby without consulting here first.

World class knowledge here, 2nd to NONE!!

Thanks Pete for looking out for us, and Thanks to all the others, you know who you are ;) 8)

Yes thanks Pete for everything you do.  Huge fan of your website (and of all things 1968.  Shelby, Mustang and Cougar included).   8)

But most importantly, you share that knowledge.
I got to admit, I am so "ignorant" per se, when it comes to Shelby knowledge, but here I have learned so much and it is VERY much appreciated from me!! ;D

BTW, I am always finding myself on the Coralsnake site, especially when you share another "Gift" to us here.

Car was not a convertible, was/is a fast back.

Well they did a double dirty,

Took the Mustang number, changed that and gave it to the clone. Maybe that's the trifecta of dirty deeds?

And let's add that it's a federal crime to alter a car's VIN.

Help from you evil twin?  ;D All kidding aside, yes, thanks for all your help over the years and especially when I was doing my first 68 Shelby when the SAAC forum didn't exist yet and we were on the other "68 Shelby" forum. The parts I got from you were top notch also. I send people to your website whenever I can and push them towards original style reproduction wiring for 68s and 69s. Gary

Maybe a "Unique Performance" Ex-Employee is taking up where they left off...………... :o
