No engine, trunk  or underside images. ???

VIN and description all say Auto but has 3-pedals and 4-speed shifter, blacked-out recessed areas on the wheels.

Seems a bit late to have the exhaust trim rings!

Maybe some of the Chicago gang know about the car?

Here is the text from the listing:

Seller's Description:
History

This GT500 was originally used as a demonstration vehicle for Hayward Motors in Hayward, California. The original owner took possession on January 4, 1968. His name was Dan Rocci, also of Hayward, California.

The second owner was Bob Jones of California. During his ownership, a number of subtle modifications were made and most remain to this day. Namely, it cosmetically received the front air dam, extra louvers in the hood, relocation of the radio antenna to the rear, and conversion to power operation. It was then painted in its original color by Don Day, a Shelby restorer in the 70's.

Also, the radio was replaced with a factory AM 8 Track player version. During Mr. Jones' ownership, the C6 automatic transmission was removed and converted to a 4-speed manual. The thermactor system was removed and exhaust headers were installed. They have since been exchanged for factory cast iron exhaust manifolds with a stock exhaust system.

The result was impressive and this GT500 was featured in Popular Hot Rodding in December of 1980.

In the mid-eighties, this vehicle changed hands to one of our customers, car collector Robert Levenberg of Paradise Valley, Arizona.

The current owner purchased the vehicle from Mr. Levenberg in 1987. This car has been sparingly used, mainly for shows and pleasure use. It has been in storage for over 15 years. Our facility, Willow Automotive Service, has been storing and caring for the car since 2008. It has been mechanically and cosmetically maintained in our climate-controlled facility.

Most recently it has undergone a thorough inspection and mechanical refresh.

This vehicle is a survivor of sorts and is very difficult to duplicate. As a conservationist of vehicles, it is refreshing to see the originality of this vehicle as opposed to the multitude of restored cars available.

Carroll Shelby signed passenger visor

I never saw this car in AZ in the 80's, and it has not participated in any Shelby/SAAC events in the IL chapter.  Looks like a fun car.

I do love the look of the outboards on a Acapulco car, but that front spoiler has to go.  Maybe they use it to plow all that Chicago show?   ???

Beautiful car, color, stance, options, condition... Equals one fantastic car! Personally I would remove the chin spoiler and the Firestones to make it the way I would want it. Thats what makes car collecting... building fun. Don't get hung up on, does it have the correct lug nuts or battery hold down bracket, Buy em, enjoy em, and make em your own. The way cars were meant to be, change it or leave it the choices are limitless. :)

We should have a poll: stripes or no stripes. I'm a stripe guy. I like them a lot better with the top stripes(65-68 only). I think they looked great on my 68 and I put them on. Gary

It's got Air!! Making it 3 pedal doesn't hurt the value on this one, for sure.

Nice looking Shelby, I like no stripes. Fix the side stripes, as I also need to on mine, remove that spoiler...
