The Boss 9 that I purchased had an "Autolite Battery" in the Trunk. It was in an Antique Auto Battery box. It is a lead acid battery with no electrolyte. It appears to never have been used but is definitely old. It is a Group 29 Battery which is correct and also has the correct Boss 9 caps with a vent tube. I am contemplating cutting it open removing the plates and putting a smaller AGM battery inside but before I do that I wanted make sure that it is not real or that I would not be considered an idiot for hacking it up. From looking at the internet it looks like this battery and case is no longer made. A picture is attached. Let me know if this one is good for the saw or if I should keep it for someone's thoroughbred.

Look on the bottom of the case and see if there is a makers mark,liability verbage like 'not autolite battery"etc. or a date code.The sticker on a genuine battery will also have a date code in the left corner. i can't see the area from the picture angle. the earlier repros didn't have a date code so if it doesn't then most likely it is not genuine. I know esc makes replacement stickers with date codes .I am not sure if all the later repros came with a date code or not . If it does have a date code it may or may no be genuine.
Thanks Bob, you are the expert. I turned the battery on its side and it says "Antique Auto Battery" on the bottom so obviously I know it is not the real deal. Now that I know it is just a repro it may get the saw.
