I am excited to share with everyone that I am the new owner of 1967 GT350 #2645. I recently sold my 1966 K code fastback and it has been my dream since I was 15 to be a Shelby owner, so I started the search for one. I was initially looking for a 1966 GT350 (since I've always had 65/66 mustangs) but through some kismet I came across 1967 #2645 via word of mouth from my father.
2645 is a moss green, 4 speed, with magstars and thermactor. The car is unrestored and still wears its original paint, interior, and drivetrain. All the correct hard to find parts are there. Even the original Goodyear Speedway spare tire is still in the trunk along with the original trunk mat, etc. Most interestingly, the original Ford door tag was found under the carpet.
It has a documented ownership history and is a life long CA car with the original black plates from 1967 still on it. Each prior owner took care to keep the car original and true to what a 1967 Shelby is.
It should be arriving next week and my plan is to clean and detail the car up and replace the minor incorrect items such as coil and starter solenoid with originals and then drive it. My 3 year old daughter is already looking forward to rides in the new "mustang."
Looking forward to being a part of the Shelby community and expanding my knowledge of 67s.
Without further ado, here are some photos of it.
Congrats! I'm glad it finally worked out! Now we will have 2 67 GT 350 outboard cars in our small town!!!
Jon
Outstanding, and congrats!! Great looking car, and I, personally, love the thermactor system. I had it on 2666 - not too far removed from your VIN.
Enjoy and keep us posted!
Indeed, I appreciate all of your help and knowledge during the buying process. Now we just need to get yours back on the road asap!
Holy smokes that's lovely. Congrats.
Beautiful car - Congratulations!!
(If you haven't already, get in touch with Dave Mathews)
Cool as can be...Kudos!!! ;D
Congrats!! #2645 looks to be a very nice find and a very original car. You can restore them as many times as you want, but they're only original once! Good luck and have fun with it.

+1, that ^^^ seems to sum it up, love the green 8)
Welcome aboard!
Seriously cool! Welcome to the ranks of '67 ownership. May you keep it for many, many years and enjoy the hell out of it.
Thanks for all the kind words, guys. Honestly, I was surprised to be able to find a car meeting all of the criteria I was looking for since so many cars have been restored over the years. I'm super excited to be the new care taker.
Congratulations - looks like a very nice and complete example
Now enjoy it as the weather allows
Congratulations. Can't go wrong with a '67.
I waited what seemed like a billion years to get mine.

Congratulations on your purchase. If you need any help just ask. There are many like minded people on this forum hoping you have a great Shelby experience.
VERY NICE! Congrats! 8)
Beautiful car! Enjoy.
Wow, for being unrestored, it is in fantastic condition.
Love the antenna location. Who was the original selling dealer?
Congratulations! Hope you have many years of enjoyment.
I wondered what you were going to buy after I heard of the K car sale.
Congrats.
Since you are fairly local I can't wait to see it. Perhaps at Roundup or XXX?
Congratulations ! that's a fantastic survivor you got there ! Enjoy it ! ;)
I prefer the rear mounted antenna look so it was just by chance that this car has it.
The car was shipped to Hysen-Johnson Ford in San Luis Obispo, CA although it was reportedly sold new through Riverdale Ford in Riverdale, CA. The original owner was from the Fresno area which isn't too far from Riverdale, so that makes sense. I just don't know how/why the car ended up being sold through a non-franchised Shelby dealer.
Awesome Britton, looks fantastic! Really looking forward to seeing it in person!
Congratulations Britton! Great to see another '67 GT350 in WASAAC.
I think it wasn't abnormal for mid to later cars to be sold through non-franchised Shelby dealers. My car was sold through Scarff Motors, Auburn, WA, a non-franchised Shelby dealer.
Mark
I could not quite make out the CA License number. Can you provide the number please. Congratulations on your purchase of a great car. I know it will bring you much joy!!!

I too like the rear mounted antenna. Maybe Riverdale Ford did that install.

Pretty sure that Riverdale did the rear antenna install along with installing a detroit locker for the first owner.

Yeah, one day in December he casually mentioned the car out of the blue. So, I asked him to put me in touch, I flew down and inspected it, and as they say, the rest is history.
The car is supposed to be picked up and delivered to me next week in WA.
Congratulations!! This is awesome!!
Very very nice congrats, and enjoy.

Congrats on acquiring a great car!
As you might know, SAI didn't install antennas on any units shipped to dealers (by truck, or rail).
The antennas were enclosed in the trunk for dealer installation. This was done to avoid shipping damage.
Hysen-Johnson Ford may have just handled the order for Riverdale Ford to expedite the order. SAI & Ford opened up the sales to non franchise dealers in April (for an added cost). SAI shipped 37 units around the country as 'Demonstrators' for the district salesmen to reduce inventory. Your cars' invoice was likely a "Vehicle Invoice' and not a 'Continuation Invoice' which is a clue to why it was done that way.
More info on rear installed radio antennas can be found here in the SRG; https://groups.google.com/g/shelbyresearch/c/lDLxy7CJRjQ

Hi Britton, Love the car. Based on you other cars you looked at, you were destine to get a green car.
Are you going to stick with tires on the car or go with an new style OEM tire? Or? If you plan to get out on the interstate, your may want new rubber. We all get to struggle with this issue at some time, tires are old but look great. Local drives is probably okay. I do like the GOODYEAR EAGLE ST's.
Thanks for sharing.

Yes, seems like a green car was meant to be.
New tires will immediately be installed. The Goodyear Eagle STs are the same ones that were on the car in the early 1990s (I have photos from that time period).

Very nice car!
Appreciate all of the interest and kind words. The car is scheduled to be picked up tomorrow so it should be in my garage by Friday.
I don't think the Goodyear Eagle ST is even still being made. No joke, those tires are probably only a handful of years younger than I am. I'm ordering a new set of tires tomorrow.

If you plan on pleasure driving the car don't order the reissue speedways. You will regret it. If not planing on pleasure drive then that is a different story. Some people have two sets of wheels and tires. This issue has been talked about here many times before . If you were going to order the reissue speedways I suggest that you take a minute and review all of the evidence/advice so that you can make a informed decision. Consider yourself warned. Just want you to have the best Shelby experience . :)

Thanks for the warning, Bob. I am considering having two sets of wheels/tires; one with radials and one with the reproduction speedways. I was planning to buy the radials first. I'll do a little more reading and research on the speedways.

You will be happy you choose the radials once you get the speedways mounted and have a chance to drive on them. You will not believe how much better the radials feel. FYI the bias ply reissue speedways drive exactly like they did back in the day. We are just spoiled now with the radial alternative. When you are ready to buy the speedways your car would definitely have used the small letter speedways given the time your car was built. https://www.kelseytire.com/performance-group-2/e70-15-speedway-350-small-letter-rwl/ .

Still amazed how nice of a unrestored car it is. 8)
Saw it in person today. Plenty of details that will need to be documented. VERY original car! Hope to get a better look at it this weekend as we both suffered from a lack of time today. BTW no welded washers on shock tower brackets😉

Most 67's didn't have the washers on the shock tower brackets.

Getting new tires mounted on a spare set of wheels tomorrow am. Forecast isn't looking great, but maybe I'll be able to catch a break in the weather and be able to get out for an inaugural drive.

Hopefully you have a set of Dill brand valve stems and distinctive caps to use with the spare set wheels like what came original. That style is still relatively commonly available and many shops still use them and have them in stock. If not places like NPD sell sets. The tire shops buy them hundreds at a time in boxes.
New tires are mounted on a set of AR Torq Thrusts that I had in the garage (bought for another mustang and never installed).
Shout out to Jon (1175) who came over and helped me swap out the tires/wheels. Purists fear not, I plan to clean up the Magstars (which are the originals) and mount a set of Goodyear small letter Speedways for shows and when a more stock look is desired. Bob, I'll heed your advise on the valve stems.
Side note, I was able to see that the rear shocks are the original dated coded Autolite shocks. Fronts are original as well.
Here's a shot of the new set up (ignore the Porsche crest in the background, the Shelby shares the garage with a few Germans).
Thanks for letting me take it for a spirited drive around the block!
Plenty of good memories to come!
Jon

Thanks for the compliments. I keep making excuses to go out to the garage. :D Wheels are 15x7 AR Torq Thrusts with 225/60/15 all around. Once weather clears up, I'll get some better pictures.

Good choice on the driver wheels IMO.
I notice in the picture of the engine bay of #2645 that the thermostat housing is not painted. Most pictures I've seen of 'restored' engine show the housing painted blue.
Is this another variation or running change in production? What would you expect to see on #2751 from the factory?
Many thanks for any information you can share.

To the questions above...I don't think that is a running change, perhaps as a result of required maintenance and cleaning-up of existing parts at the same time.
Yes, painted blue is what would be expected based on known/believed practices. The coil location would be another item that is not typical of assembly line practice.
Looks to be a very nice car!

Agree not a running change. may be due to maintenance or from the fact that paint didn't stick as well to aluminum as it did to steel. You will see the same on some old pictures of the timing cover and or the water pump on some examples
Housing, bypass hose, clamps and attaching hardware were reused when the intakes were change after run test. Would expect to see some damage to the paint from the removing and reinstallation steps

Did you happen to see these two threads a a start? They both are focused - or started out focused on Thermactor GT350's that were built in the spring or so of 67
https://www.saacforum.com/index.php?topic=13620.msg112919#msg112919 (https://www.saacforum.com/index.php?topic=13620.msg112919#msg112919)
https://www.saacforum.com/index.php?topic=6246.15 (https://www.saacforum.com/index.php?topic=6246.15)
Rest typically just like 65-6 GT350's and 289 Mustangs without Thermactor
JD and Jeff are correct that there are some engine related items that are not assemblyline correct due to prior owner maintenance. The coil type and mounting location, some hoses/clamps, etc have been replaced over the years. The thermostat housing should be blue as indicated. I am actually in the process of addressing most of these items.
