Looking for some tips on the installation of 1968 GT500 door stripes.
-
?just the doors?
or, side stripes (including fenders and quarter panels?
-
If you have stripes on fender and quarter, run masking tape above or below existing stripe. Use edge of tape to locate new stripe.
-
Also, make sure all your gaps are adjusted perfectly first.
-
And make sure you have the car on the ground or a storage lift. The weight needs to be on the wheels. Gaps change when cars are on a 2 post lift or jacks.
I think that's it this time.
-
Nope, not done yet. Thought of a couple more.
Rocker trim should be on and stripe should be parallel to it.
Make sure paint is clean and smooth. Use a clay bar or compound. Use alcohol or similar on inside surfaces of door where stripe wraps around to be sure stripe sticks good.

I don’t believe that is possible
If you stripe the doors first the stripes should be straight off the doors. The distance to the rocker moldings will vary near the outer ends

I restriped my car because it was off a little bit and it drove me nuts.

Doesn't the 1968 Registry include specification for the distance/gap at the bottom of the stripe, as well as the fender placement??
