Hi Guys,
I hope this question is okay to pose here as I'm guessing one of you knows the answer.... I am buying a fairly rare 1967 K-Code Mustang that currently has Cobra valve covers. In researching what would have been correct, I am reading conflicting information as to whether or not they were the same chrome versions as the '66. The attached screenshot of a Motor Trend article appears to be the most credible source that they were somehow different. I appreciate any help you can offer!

Ford switched to the higher profile valve covers later in '66 production, so '67 K codes should have the later, tall style valve covers (chromed).
That's what I needed- thanks!! Anyone know if the later style is being reproduced? I'm not finding anything from the usual sources.
I have the Ford Accessories (Muscle Parts) literature from that time period, and it does list the Cobra valve covers as a dealer available OTC dress up item.
Yes, not concours stock, but still a Ford originated optional part. So if you cannot find the originals, I would think you are still in the Ford family.

Never reproduced that I'm aware of. Not allot of call for something where there were allot of ones made originally and in most cases they stayed in pretty good shape. Generally not going to rust just dirty and oily. Think you might be limiting your search to catalogs and places that sell reproduction parts

They had the Ford logo and script, powered by Ford.

John , the "logo" covers started in '68. '67s were tall but flat. I've had them in the past they are fairly rare as K code production was WAY down in '67.

K code Mustangs received chrome valve covers at the factory starting in 1964. This carried on and though 67 production on those same engines. There were FE engines installed into Mustangs in 67-part way through 69 with chrome valve covers also.

I was aware of the 289 hipo chrome valve covers.
I was referencing the 67 up units.
Did the 67 chrome covers have any print or logo's?

No, that started in '68, think Jeff mentioned it already in one of his replies.
The OP may have to find some painted ones and get them chromed. If you do that , tell the chromer NOT to "over polish" them. Originals had surface "roughness" near the flange , not mirror polish.

+1... I think the process was called 'flash chrome'?
I've had problems chroming the earlier covers as they usually add too much thickness to the oil filler neck.
That is correct. Originals were not "triple" plated. That would be copper , nickel , chrome , with polishing in between. Ford spec was light polish to base metal , nickel and chrome. Far quicker and less costly.
