being that is the stock cast iron intake...try taking 2 small flat blade screwdrivers and gently tap them into where the intake meets the cylinder head at the intake gasket where the valve cover is..then progress to larger screwdrivers till it starts to break loose...then use a pry bar in the front of the intake to lift it some...probably should have a buddy help you lift it off & out of the the car to avoid any damage to fenders...85lbs +.. 8)

If you are removing the heads as well, loosen them.

As per the service manual, bolt lift plate to the carb mounting and use an engine hoist to lift it out. Otherwise your going to have to use the screwdriver/gasket scraper method mentioned before. Also eat your Wheaties or spinach  and have your chiropractor on speed dial if you don't have a hoist.

Easy peasy this way.

Make 100% certain that all the bolts are removed. Count them. Then look up how many there are. I've seen cast iron crack in these instances......

As per the service manual, bolt lift plate to the carb mounting and use an engine hoist to lift it out.

Those manuals were written for working on 2-3 year old cars. Not ones that had their manifolds glued down with a healthy dose of Permatex 10-20 years ago. I've seen them stuck enough to lift the front of the car before they let lose with some violence as the car settles back down. Break it lose with the screwdrivers first then hoist it out.
