Title: looking for wt fleet number
Post by: papa scoops on May 26, 2018, 12:00:55 AM
anybody have ford fleet color book from 1972? has all the special order colors and chips in it, mine is not handy. looking for color (wt) 2021. nothing listed on the marti other than special color. the car is black, looks like orig paint, except deck lid. car doesn't have sport mirrors (they were deleted if you had special paint, but I see nothing special about black) has lots of the brownish primer showing, was black in an old hot rod magazine. 54 ticks on the clock  phred

Unfortunately, Ford did not specific special colors, so they are not in Kevin Martis records.

You obviously have another source to determine the code WT 2021.

I dont see 2021 in my 1968 color book, but will look at my other info

thanks, I have somewhere, the dso decoding book, along with the fleet colors. a lot of dso's were for paint colors (not all) but I determined that this is an all original paint car (including the deck lid) and it is factory black, which was not offered as a standard color, it had to be special ordered. thanks, phred

Looking in the version I have list

WT-2007 to WT 2392 as being in the gray (non-metallic) color spectrum

My pages skip WT 2021 for this fleet color book but it should fall between, in color, 2008-2031 both are about the equivalent IMHO of shinny light grey primer

Sorry scanner focused on the top page rather than on the chip 1 1/8" below but you get the idea. Had a special order paint car that was a very similar color though it had metallic in it

thanks for info. verified that the original color of car is black. didn't realize that it was special order. the door tag is blank for color, so the dso is the whole deal not just color, like some. now I need to verify if clint eastwood did install the steering column. phred
