Title: 2005 Ford GT clay model status.
Post by: daltondavid on July 03, 2022, 11:27:12 PM
I last recall Ford gave the Clay model to a New York artist, “Richard Prince” to do something with it.  After 17 years has anyone heard or seen what has become of it?

Very cool part of history that would be great to see show up one day.  Hopefully after all these years it has maintained its shape.  Wondering if there was any type of hardening applied to surface?  If it was mine I'd get Camilo to carve his signature in it.

I heard some corporate spy over at GM stole it and turned it into this.

New clays pretty much get machined on a giant CNC machine. They get some finish hand work or a section can get redesigned or a bodyline moved. I figure the biggest asset is the creation of that CNC file that they can then use to machine out the stamping dies. Which is why new cars fit so well.
