I'm waiting (quite a while) for a reputable place near me to polish and restore the stainless molding around the front windshield and back windows of my car. In the meantime, I contemplated using a reproduction set of molding for the interim. Is any of it of any value, or is it like the repop window gaskets (they just place suck)? Is there a source for a better quality? In the end, I will be installing the original molding that's been fixed and polished.
Thanks!
My advice is wait for your original. I had mine done and it is great (not back on car yet). The repo stuff in my experience is pretty awful but someone else may have other thoughts
Cheers and goodluck
If you see an original and a Repo together, the difference is obvious. At least on the ones I've seen
Yeah, but it's like 6 months before I will get the molding back. I'd hate to have to park the car until then.
I would have offered to do them for you, but I have a problem with over-polishing them. Mine end up looking like chrome. I'm assuming you want factory finish on yours.
That is what I was hoping for, but thanks Paul.
Sub issue: Potential scratching the car's paint taking the trim on/off. Just something else to consider.
