I will give Ford the benefit of the doubt until further investigation. But it's sad to see.
I wonder how the insurance company will replace it?
Cash payout I suspect. Probably insured for 1.8 million measured by the auction of the only one sold from private hands.
I am betting Ford is already involved, maybe already in possession of the GT.......just like the Yellow Shelby GT 350 that burned.
Very sad and interesting at the same time. Anxious to see how this plays out.
A Jalopnik article said it happened at a train station and the owner was with his son. The owner apparently is a car collector with an impressive collection. Maybe I should blame my Canadian breathern North of the border at Multimatic where the GT is made.
got to admit that's one hot car...
Interesting that the guy noted a Porsche GT3 recall with a cease-driving order. There was one of those on the 05/06 Ford GT's as well, if I remember right it was something with the suspension/steering. Dealers were flat-bedding the cars in to have them fixed.

It was on the first half of the '05 model year production run. (About 1000 of 4035 cars made) There was a forging flaw in the control arm. All were replaced before an accident occurred.
The production flaw was corrected and no further issues presented themselves.
Just spent the weekend with a new GT, and its owners. It was hot outside (Tulsa) but the car stayed cool.
Hope the fire thing isn't a hidden bug.

That could (easily)ruin your whole day....ouch!!! :o
Uhhhhh boy.......
"Honey, did you forget to mail the insurance payment for the new car? It is still here ,on the counter..."
Am I the only one here who was hoping the Narrator of the video would spontaneously burst into flames?
^^
Roger that!
I don't know how anyone is expected to be able to work on these cars.
Normally when someone here buys business insurance, you buy it as a package. I don't know of any company offering it with more then $1million in liability.
That was more then a million dollar loss. I don't think I'd even sit in it.
Plus the rate should be around 2% of the replacement value. I couldn't even afford to insure it at $30,000, a year.
Depending on the Insurance Company, he might be lucky to get out of it what he paid for it.

IMO, that is what they are going to offer him, minus the salvage.
Personally, I'd press Ford on the liability on this. The problem is going to be if ANYONE touched that car since it left Ford INCLUDING a Ford dealer.
The term "cause to effect" is going to get thrown around there. I doubt the Ford dealer would have enough liability on that as well.
The owner definitely NEEDS to get a real lawyer on this one. Louis Tulley is not going to cut it.
And I thought the video was going to be about the car....disturbing

although unverified, it is rumored that this company owned the vehicle...
I thought peewee Herman was older than that.... :o
We'll be watching that one get "restored" on an episode of Gas Monkey......
Maybe someone tossed a cigarette out the window that got sucked into a scoop.
