I have to agree with Dominic that there have been some difficulties here.
And useage of the Forum is way way way down as a result.
Those are the hard facts.
If the Powers That Be can fix (the situation) it would be welcomed.
If you don't know Dominic then you have either not been around long or don't attend The Conventions.
If you don't know me then that's OK.

Keep in mind those who take care of this site are unpaid volunteers, they devote time and energy to keeping the place afloat. Time away from their business dealings, time away from their family, time away from their friends, time, at an age where time in quite valuable, more so than the cars we love in some cases. Sometimes it's even more personal, and those that have the know how might just not be able to accomplish things due to factors that will never been known to the general public.

Bill, I've offered my time and expertise on more than one occasion and for whatever reason the offer is met with silence. I have no interest in playing cop and moderating forum content, but I would be happy to offer any help I can to keep things running behind the scenes like getting the SAAC badge activated and fixing the photo attachment issue. However, I understand that to do that I would need administrator privileges so I can certainly understand if the board wants to keep a tight reign on admin access.

Honestly I don't see the "Powers that Be" people frequent this site. Is there not a committee that listens and takes care of the club issues? The club belongs to the dues paying members not 3-4 individuals. Should we not vote on officers and committee members? If its true that the controlling people are just that, controlling, then they either need to step up or relinquish control.
Does the IRS/Feds need to be contacted to "check into the club" to make sure dues are being used properly and the people "running the show" are using the funds properly? If you accept any form of payment from a person a service is required. I think they are treading on thin ice..... IMHO
I also disagree with the statement about them being "just volunteers". If one "volunteers" YOU signed on for the obligation and YOU have to perform. If YOU don't want to because other things are more important to YOU, thats okay, but everyone else shouldn't pay for YOU accepting an obligation that YOU can't perform and aren't man enough to step down from. That argument is BS... IMO!
^^^^^ Agreed- They don't show up here too often or at all. They are volunteers and old and cant keep up what the majority want or need. We cant fault them for some what trying where things get a little sideways is when NO ONE is monitoring the monitors, sounds like our country now. Where people get un happy is when some truly good people send in there hard earned money for so called merit badges and such and then possibly some of that money is spent down at the saloon or what ever. Money exchanging hands for service's that people don't feel they are getting turns people off. I truly don't know if that is fixable because we have the buddy system here, like that's the way we always do things just don't know if we can continue down that same path any longer.

There you go, talking to yourself again...
No one is listening.
Rod We are ALL watching and listening intently. Watch how many VIEWS this thread gets, it is at the core of all things we want and need from this forum. We all have different and very strong opinions of things, because of this most people left the site. It is not important to them if these cars came with stripes or hubcaps or caution fan stickers. People are turned off by ignorance, racism, bullying, lack of knowledge, and a host of other things that are woven into most threads here. The question that presents itself often is how do we create new interest here when we should be taking care of the ones that are all ready here. I like stripes on all performance cars,I don't like hubcaps on anything, everyone knows this and I don't try to sway their opinions on it either. Lets have an understanding about these things because it appears we are slipping into the abyss.
Funny, if the...."POWERS THAT BE".....were watching these posts. they would have... DELETED... them for insubordination......wonder if they are going to attend SAAC 43 ? They should have their ear plugs ready >:(

Guys,
I already apologized to Dominic for the thread hijack and drift, while I am not on this forum in that capacity, I've walked in those shoes, so seeing a post as above just hit close to my heart and I posted my knee-jerk response above. The bottom line here, as in every other forums I've ever belong to, you need to reach out behind the scenes, by email, phone call, a knock on a door if you are on those types of terms with the people who have the administrative rights to the site. Posting in threads like this does little, as did the original thread on the photo posting which I sent a link off to a site admin. For me it's just frustrating to watch a slow spiral downward, where instead, we should be reaching for new heights. Again, I'm sorry to all for the thread drift, I'll step away and perhaps down, as it appears I've lost touch with reality on this forum.
Wish you all well.
Bill

Quote from: Greg on July 06, 2018, 08:29:49 AMThe club belongs to the dues paying members not 3-4 individuals. Should we not vote on officers and committee members?
The "club" is just like Sears, Costco or Walart. It is owned by a private group of "stockholders". You buy their service (magazine & good will for CS cars) with your dues. The "membership" does not entitle you to a vote in the operation any more than buying a set of tires from GoodYear let's you vote on what they do with your money. The "club" from what I understand does not own or run this web site. This club has worked well following that formula since 1975. The hicup when CS sued to try and control the club, registry and money caused a change in the board. I've seen too many car clubs and other associations ruined and killed by Home Owner Association types who keep changing by-laws and rules to create their own little empires - I certainly wouldn't like to see SAAC among them.
Our club IS NOT like a brick and mortar business such as Sears Costco etc. There are major differences between them but one similarity we can draw from is both seemingly worked good until they no longer were what people wanted. So after approx. 130 years Sears is no more what our club was seemingly is not what it once was. Sears,JJ Newburys,Robinsons, May Co Motorola are all gone by the way of the Dinosaur's. Why....? Because they did not keep up with a changing world, they didn't keep it fresh and listen to what its customers wanted. Sound familiar? You can draw similarities to your favorite restaurants,Kinney shoes, Foot Locker, I could go on and on. I shopped at all of them had friends that were in MGMT in most of those places. The powers to be back in the day were like the DODO birds they were oblivious to what the customers wants and needs were. They said we have been around forever we are not going anywhere... They were wrong! :'( So to with our club if we don't pay immediate attention it will continue down that slippery slope we are on until there are no members to boast about these cars we love so much.Remember the tv evangelicals Tammy Faye and Jim BAKER They cried and said send your money to us for the LORD. There is a lesson to be learned there as well.
Well we've gone from several magazines a year to 1 large 1....No more dash plaque, etc.,so I guess it's run like most businesses=profit....Least we still get a sticker...

This beauty is currently under restoration with the hope that it can one day be in "barn find" condition. It's an extremely rare 68 hard top with back seat delete and rumble seat option! Powered by a potent 289 2V/C4. Most fasteners are original and this car oozes patina! I'd be willing to let this go for the right money. Could use a set of tires and other finishing touches.
Seriously, if someone needs something from this wreck, let me know as I'm yanking the motor/tranny for possible use in something else. It's going to the crusher soon.

This is cool, cars that are out in plain sight, yet not to touch! Back in 1980 in Deerfield Beach FLA was 2 68 Shelbys, one a 500 and one a 350 one was a convertible and the other a fastback. I knocked on the door and was not welcome. Very Cool! It is almost scary, kind of like the scene from Christine when the 2 boys backed up to see Christine and that camera view was very scary.

EXACTLY what I am looking for. Got the title? I want to build my own Mustang NASCARLO. I can get rid of that plastic SN95 body - But I won't be using a tunnelport for my 68.
