Title: Downey Auto Center
Post by: mjv458 on July 21, 2018, 09:28:50 PM
My Shelby #458 was sold new at Downey Auto Center, Downey, CA.  The owner I bought it from called the original selling dealer Downey Ford but all the Shelby club documentation said Downey Auto Center.

Well my mystery has been solved. In the 60's Downey Auto Center sold Fords and Peugeot later dropping Peugeot and becoming Downey Ford which is now out of business. :)

Do you when they dropped the Peugeot line to become Downey Ford?

It looks like there were 28 1967 Shelby's delivered to the Downey Auto Center.
#0458 appears to have been the 3rd car shipped, but the first GT500.

Unfortunately I do not.  But the Downey Auto Center license plate frame has now replaced the Downey Ford license plate frame on the rear of my car.
