Looking for input on 225/60-15 tires for a 67 GT350, with 1" drop. Street driven but something that is performance oriented ( H-rated? ). I can't say it will never be driven in the rain so something with decent rain handling characteristics. I noticed the General Altimax RT43 on Tire Rack. Looking to stay under $100 per tire. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks. Brian
FWIW - we've had several sets of the RT43s on various fwd daily driver cars - not the "H" rated version - and have been very pleased with them as regular all-season tires.
IIRC, they don't necessarily make it all the way to the "expected" mileage, but they do well in terms of wet, dry, & light snow traction.
With all due respect to the OP, why are you putting a $100 tire on a $50,000 - $100,000 car ???
Get a set of CR6ZZ Avons and you won't be sorry. Put a $100 tire on that car and you'll be sorry every time you look at it.

As an alternative to the Avons in this size range are the Goodyear 225/60-15VR Gatorbacks from Kelsey tires at $320 each. These are VR speed rated tires! And they're "Goodyears". I run these myself, unfortunately these are the only size available. So if you can live with this size on all four corners. I'd say this would be the way to go. Just my opinion.

Skimping on tires on a Shelby, or even a good clone doesn't make sense. I am a Good Year fan personally. I wound up going 17X7 front and 17X8 rear.
There just aren't enough good choices for 15" rims. I kept the OE rims for a day when I return it to stock.

I couldn't agree more! Avon CR6ZZ's are an awesome Hi Performance ( DOT Legal ) Tire.
I purchase mine, from SASCO Motorsports in Alton, VA. They are right next door to VIR.

ZRay.. A relief without a doubt, but the Commieforians didn't learn the lesson of where they were, so they come here with the same mentality politically and the taxes are getting as bad as CA, less the personal income tax. A 500K house here runs about 17K a year in property taxes. Ca was 1% and they didn't re-assess the property every year. They aren't bothering me about my Class3 stuff... Yet.
P.S. I was just in Tulsa for several days and my Shelby was painted in OK. Stratton to be exact.

was just getting in some friendly interstate rivalry jabs ,
my daughter lives and works in McKinney so I'm floating thru the DFW traffic periodically, and also "enjoy" the I-35 experience twice a year on my way to Austin for a check-up (no doctors in Oklahoma I trust ;) ). My hats off to anyone who has to navigate that Texas traffic every day. And it's much worse now than I've experienced anywhere else I've lived, LA, NYC, Miami, Austin, Hong Kong, etc, all have had traffic issues that I had to endure in the past, but I think the I-35 corridor is about the worst ever, mainly due to the never ending construction.
As far as California goes, I have no problem with them, or the people in any state....

I bought my Avon's, for both of my Cobra replicas, from
Nick Acton. Nick is great to deal with and gave me a better price than Krause. The Avon's are great, but the treadwear rating is not the highest and rock chips/road debris due to stickiness are issues, especially if you have a $$$ paint job.
I've had no problems with the BFG Radial T/As on my 67 GT-350. I usually just cruise around but I've also had it on the track for fast show laps. Again, no problems. It depends what look you are trying to achieve you.
Nearly every Shelby spent a good portion of their history on bias ply, and most of those cars are still around today. It depends on how you drive and how well you can drive.

Yes, Colleyville is a very nice area. I am a Commiefornia native. I didn't say I didn't like people, I don't care for liberalism or the mindset that accompanies it.
Best weather in the U.S., hands down. The rest of it has diminished drastically. Not to mention they don't pay their bills.
