Title: Boss 429 engines
Post by: 427heaven on August 03, 2018, 11:43:41 PM
Asking for approximate value of complete and semi complete engines. I have a line on a couple of engines and wanted to get an approximate price. Any help is appreciated.

Lots of variables. S, T or NASCAR pieces?

Used, abused, NOS? Complete and running?

Little of this and that... One complete Nascar injected complete and running race engine the other stuff is T engine in pieces with some hurt components, dropped a valve hurt the combustion chamber mostly complete. :'(

My only suggestion is to search eBay, racingjunk etc for similar examples. Might be able to find similar parts for sale. Also www.460ford.com

With Jon Kaase parts out there, hurt originals aren't as valuable as they once were. Complete original engines on the other hand are.

Agreed- But both are original and can be converted back to day 1 on the rebuild. Like buying a SHELBY with a CAMMER. All good just needs a little work. These are changes that don't bother me. ;)

I would either disassemble and pressure test/magnaflux all the parts with pictures and sell them that way or pay a reputable builder to assemble and Dyno test them and sell as ready to go.

I could only guess on value. Again, the Kaase parts changed the playing field.

Dennis
Bruh
Send me a PM on how the engine blocks are stamped. That might help in determining value.
Should have on front left bellow Head either “mirror 460”, which people call “reverse 460”,
Or HP or R.

Thanks guys for the info and input but heres what im doing possibly with them. I don't own a dump truck, I don't want to sell them, I know what a good engine builder can do, and I don't need a Kaase race engine. So with that said any one with a good GUESS is welcomed here I just need an approximate for a baseline price, they don't come up too often and they are originals and I will run them in something. What me be a low- high price tag for said engines. Thanks for the numbers before they get here, I have an idea just don't know pricing on these because this is an engine I have never owned..... Everything but!

I think you will get a better idea from the guys over at www.ford460.com.

They build them to run in boats and cars.
