Title: 1970 CA Emissions Systems
Post by: anghelrestorations on October 08, 2018, 12:51:26 PM

I cant say the number of Shelby's sold in CA in 1970, and how many are still surviving today, but this article cover the CA emissions systems that were added to these cars.  If anyone has an original unrestored 1970 CA sold Shelby let me know....wanted to verify one or two details in here:

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I am not in-the-know when it comes to these cars, especially their emissions parts. This is fascinating and I'll check to see if my future Shelby holds 20 or 22 gallons. I'll come back here to study and read some more.

How would you clean out given all of the plastic and steel interior parts inside one of those?

I can only assume you are not serious given you have to rub Bon Ami in like a polish to get any results. I don't know how you can get inside to clean the gas tank with a product like that without cutting it open . Once it is cut open it is ruined for original looking applications because one will be hard pressed to ever have it looked un messed with original again.

What is the normal way people clean out a gas tank and get it prepped for gas again? A mild-ish acid? I'm sure there are products on the market that are top choices. Which one(s)?

I am sure any potential buyers for a 70 emissions gas tank that needs cleaning will find that very useful .  Not. ;)
