A friend of mine has owned 6S2339 since 1969 and he asked me today if he is the longest owner of a 1966 GT350. I thought it was interesting and I remember meeting the owners of 6S2268 this summer at SAAC 43. They bought their car brand new, so my friend has owned his car 3 years less than they have. How many other original owner cars are still in possession by the first buyer? How many guys have owned their cars since 1969 or earlier?
Not sure if it's the guy you met but there is an original owner of a white 66 in New York State.
Yeah cool thread, love hearing some old stories of people who have long term ownership

I am guessing you are referring to 6s499 Richard Klein. There was a poll/article in one of the old Shelby American where they asked for info on the longest owners of cars.
I also am aware of an original owner carryover car locally.

Owned 6S2378 for 41 years. Wife drove it for one summer. Then went in a barn hibernating till 2015.

Dog went for test rides down the street to warm it up. Went to a good home. We went to visit it last June.
Nice piece.

Went to Bonneville twice and 3 cross country trips.
Plan on driving either across country again or to all 48 states in 2022. Has been to 38 states
Come on Steve hit Alaska and make it 49. Go big or go home.
Do them all. I am sure the Road to Hana would be fun in your car.
I've thought of it ;D
Bought 6S550 in Aug 1967, when Hertz turned them back to Ford for sale.

Not recommended now. I have done it scores of times over the years but no more. Thanks to social media and influx of thousands of tourists, you will rarely get out of first or second gear and get your foot off the brakes. Too many visitors taking photos at every turn in their rentals and bus loads of tour vans clogging the route and dodging periodic 8)rain and landslides.
Alternate to your plans:
1) ship 1431 over to me with a Go Pro camera and I will run and document its vist to the 50th State. I promise to senfd the footage back.
2) ship 1431 over here and join it for a joint cruise with me in 6S2187. It can shelter in my warehouse for the visit. You will be on your own.
8)
I don't own a Shelby. But my wife owns the 69 Mach 1 her (Late) Father bought from the original owner on January 22, 1970.

Sounds good. Let me know if you need help. It is a little tricky. Not as easy as other forums.
Not my car, but I'm wrenching on a 66 GT 350 with first owner installed Paxton supercharger.
The reason I chimed in....the current owner owned and drag raced the car in the 70's and recently bought it again. I think it's awesome he now has it again! And, I get to wrench on it!

I will speak with the owner and see if he minds more info and pics. If he doesn't mind, I'll be glad to provide both!
Silverton... The VIN on this car is 67201F8A01933. I will get some pics later in the week.
I assume by the vin it is a 67, not a 66??
Forgive my ignorance....I must have misunderstood the owner.
