I am so glad the engineering cars are getting some recognition. They really were the test beds for everything we enjoy

That's a terrific article. It also appeared in print, in the May, 2018 edition of Old Cars Weekly News & Marketplace.

God, I just love those center caps....

And get a t-shirt at spring fling with this black shelby on front & bring your 69 shelby for the 50th anniversary of 69 shelbys as we are trying to get the most 69 shelbys ever assembled in one place for a new record including 3 drag pack gt500 verts. According to my research the black shelby is the first dearborn 69 428cj vert made but not the first 428cj mustang made as there were some fastbacks made before the vert so i think they got that part of the story wrong or a typo error. Phillip the prototype center cap emblem is an enlarged 69 shelby seat belt button emblem cover.

Did the Vinman get a new job?

"Vincent "Vinny" Liska, SCCA Registrar, actively joined the pursuit of information regarding this car. "

Vinman is always in pursuit of info.  He found the shelby paper about offering the cougar type electric windows option on 69 shelby convertibles & thats why i think one side rear side scoop was open & the other wasnt. After installing the rear electric windows there would be clearance problems with the rear brake scoop hose routing to the wheelhouse opening. Also an interesting note found in the 69 shelby meetings letters is that only white interior was going to be offered in the convertibles so i went thru the registry & sure enought it was mid jan or so before a black interior 69 shelby convertible was built.  # 0621 was the first black int. 69 shelby convertible built.

Anybody know or have a photo of the most 69 shelbys ever assembled in one place (not counting a.o.smith or Kar Kraft) when new so we know what # it will take to set a new record. Lets shoot for 50 at the 50th  ha ha

That's cool - love that stuff and the fact that they grabbed some XR7-G centers to put them in. Gotta be creative when you're under the gun like that!

I believe I have a black and white picture of this car that I acquired at SAAC Pasadena around 1975. It is signed by Carroll and has been hanging in my garage for years.

Picture. I don't know if this is it or not. Need experts to weigh in.
