I love living here too:
1. 663 miles of beaches - yes indeed, and many more rivers and lakes, parks, trails, etc.....
2. Perfect weather - not quite. June, July and August can be brutal. But if it were truly perfect year-round there would be no room to move because everyone would move here.

4. Every route is the scenic route - true. And, not to rub it in but driving your Shelby is a year round endeavor. No road salt, ice or snow.

9. Disney/Universal - I thought that too when I moved here 30 years ago. Now I'm theme parked-out (or just becoming a grouchy old man).
10. We live where you vacation! - Snowbirds and touristos - definitely not
my favorite part of Florida.

Went to the Richie Evans Memorial 100 NASCAR Modified race last night at New Smyrna Speedway. Great race and very evenly matched field. The last place car wasn't lapped until the 58th lap (all green). I've been to several of these and I have to say that I really miss watching Ted Christopher coming up through the field. That man could drive the wheels off pretty much anything!

Agreed, but what state or town doesnt have any issues?
The only other place we have entertained relocating would be in the Hawaiian islands.
But we have measured the cost of living there vs the mainland and also the travel time.
We have our own Hawaiin islands, sans the surfing. They are called the Florida keys. From our current home to our keys home located just 2,000 feet or minutes from a direct Atlantic Ocean access, it takes us one hour via the turnpike to arrive there.
Why leave paradise?

I'm in Texas. I got the hell out of Commiefornia. I will be in the land of "Qtips" on 13 Mar for a week donating to the local economies. LOL I was stationed at Benning and Bragg. I grew up in an arid climate and It's even humid here at times. My mother grew up in Columbus GA and Bonifay Fl.

I gotta tell ya Tony, as my wife and I get ever so close to retiring, FL is on our short list. We have spent our entire lives in PA. We love it here, despite others feeling that the winters are uncomfortable, or local and state governments don't alway align with what we want. Regardless, we have and will continue to enjoy life and location, be it in PA or another location on the short list.
Oh, one last thing, I'd hate to drill my '68 GT500 front valance for a license plate bracket. I may have to find a "work around."

The Fastback has a single upper bar. The Stingray has two smaller decorative arching steel tubes a few inches below the upper that run all the way from the rear axle mounting plate to the head tube up front.

It was stolen the second day I rode it to school.

Next year at Labor Day 2020, MCA is having their Grand National in Melburne, FL.

I observed the progress he made in Calif. building up Superformance and having a model showroom in Irvine CA but was surprised when he went to Florida, leaving his son and daughter running the West Coast operations.Does he have a showroom in Florida? Is his brands soon to be the No. 1 replica brand in Florida? Are the rules for registering them amenable (like to do they allow side exhausts? I hope to hear that he's blazing new trails for Cobras in Florida. Thanks for any updates.

STICK A FORK IN IT , ITS DONE - ANOTHER EVENT CANCELED DUE TO TOO MANY EVENTS HAPPENING
It is with a very heavy heart and a tear in my eye that I have inform you all that the SFCM All Classic Ford Show will have to be postponed until 2023 😢
There have been obstacles to jump with the City and with the venue that has made it almost impossible to accomplish.
The venue then becomes too busy with other events, such as the Boat Show, Art Festival in Coconut Grove and other major events.
So the best decision now has been to postpone the show until 2023.
I regret this with all my heart as I have been working towards this since the day after the show last year.
Please let everyone know and support the event in the coming year.

It has been formally announced that PBIR is changing hands soon and with it, changing the use of the land on which it rests. We are deeply disappointed, but not shocked. We hope to continue to build our brand of Performance Driving Event in Florida going forward, and we see this as just a bump in the road.

We want to give you some last minute updates regarding SAAC-47. We are less than 2 weeks away from a tremendous event. And your being there will only make it better, so if you are in any way able to attend, and you have not yet registered, please go to http://msreg.com/saac47 and register.
Pre-registration will be closing in a few days. This will allow us to start getting prepared for the behind-the-scenes stuff. If you don't pre-register, we still want to see you there. You can pay by the day ($20 per day, member or non-member). Pre-registration gate fees are $50 for members for the weekend, and $60 for non-members for the weekend.
Night at the Museum
We still have plenty of room, and it's an event you won't want to miss. We will have the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum all for ourselves... for an evening of motorsports history and camaraderie. Explore the Museum at your leisure, and join your friends at the many "chat" tables set up around the Museum. Meet the SAAC VIPs and Registrars... they will be there from 7:00 – 10:00 pm.
A Cash Bar will be available.
The Exclusive Basement Tour
This basement tour is a rare event. This is a private 30 minute tour of the "basement".
In the basement, there is much more than up stairs and some really neat things. Visitors say it is better than the museum. There are 130 cars , the engine room , and a detail room. The first two cars that are on the display as you enter as said to have a combined value of $100 million. Real Indy 500 history.
The tour will consist of 10-12 people at a time at 15 minute intervals for a 30 minute guided tour.
The cost is $150 per person, payable at the beginning of the tour. We do need a count in advance, and we are doing this either by adding it to your registration on MotorSportsReg (no money is required then, only a "promise" that you will take the tour and pay at the gate). Alternatively, you can email pitcrew@saac.com and let Ron Richards know that you are interested.
Dinner
Every year, the dinner sells out. We have some tickets left, but get 'em while they are still available. Dinner will be a buffet, so no need to choose an entree.
The evening program will be held after dinner. We have a special speaker lined up, and you won't want to miss him. You can still attend the program even if you do not purchase a dinner ticket. The program should start about 8:00 p.m.
Open Track
Limited spots are still available for all groups. If you meet the requirements, including being a current SAAC member, helmet, gloves, long sleeve shirt, etc. we would love to see you get your car on a track that most people will only dream of driving on. SAAC's car show is a highlight of every convention. Bring your Ford powered-car and pay at the gate.
Parade Laps
If you want to drive on the famous Indy Track, you can participate in our Parade Laps on Thursday and Friday. For $20 per session, you can drive on the Indy Track without a helmet. You will need seatbelts, and speeds are limited to 55 miles per hour, but in your mind, you can still imagine you are Mario Andretti, and tell your grandkids about it.

You all know our conventions are built on a foundation of helpful volunteers who want to make the best experience possible.

When I lived in Houston from 2018-2020, every year the locals got nervous in spring, summer and early fall. Rain, hail, thunder lighting and some tornado watches were the order of the day. My neighbors would say "Don't like the weather in Texas?, wait five minutes!" Many asked why I moved here...my response: "I traded earthquakes for hurricanes" Everyone still talked about Harvey, and the 'Tax day flood" the previous 2 years before...I moved back west..You guys have to deal with this $hit every year is insane..

If they'd built an automatic-only hybrid, as the only Mustang car (not the SUV) choice, we'd be ripping them a new one for not giving Mustang guys one last conventional muscle car.

I just found out my Daughter's in-laws winter home was basically not damaged in Cape Coral(minor screen damage to pool outdoor screen and some shingles). They bought it last summer and were on a canal but far enough off the river and upstream as to not get any flooding. My Daughter was supposed fly down there Thursday for 10 days celebrating her husbands 30th birthday with a bunch of friends. His parents were down there but evacuated up north. You guys can keep Florida year round and I'll visit in the winter. It isn't going to get better but worse and I don't know how most will be able to afford insurance down there after this mess.

Hahah.....I have a Volvo, Toyota, Subaru, and my Fords...I lean Ford but those car constantly fowarded over and over on a Shelby site? Anyway, sort of wish we could hear what Shelby products got damaged, so we could be for-warned when they are "for sale"

Taylor ranch is trying to convert 2700 acres from agricultural to allowing 3 homes per acre!!! If this goes through it will allow 4500 homes to be built right next door to Bradenton's historic 50 years running racetracks! This is NOT a compatible use of the adjacent property. We need as many supporters as we can, doesn't matter where you're from, ANYONE can speak... Myself and a few other people are prepared to speak on the behalf of the tracks, but if you support our racetracks all you need to do is step before the commissioners and say "I OPPOSE".
Please come if you're available and be as respectful as you can. DEFEND BRADENTON'S RACETRACKS!!!!
