Title: I am not a "newbie" thread.
Post by: QuickSilverShelby on February 06, 2018, 08:39:10 PM
I'm starting this thread for all the long time SAAC forum members who are tired of seeing "newbie" below their avatar.  I used to be a "Hero Member" or something like that but now I'm referred to as a "newbie".   I AM NOT AN ANIMAL!!!!!! :o

So this thread lets you make useless posts in order to up your ranking and thus remove the "newbie" label.

Have at er boys.  Raise your status!!

The latest documentation I can find is the stats from June of 2017...it shows the top ten posting contributors....we should restore those people to their rightful places....I am not sure how you could document the others....

There really should be some acknowledgement for those that have been around for years and years instead of just starting everyone over in my opinion

What's in a name? Would a rose by any other name smell less sweet?
What if they called it a stink weed? Would everyone think that the smell of a rose stinkweed was unpleasant?

:) Think of it this way...  Your a young "buck" eager to learn which is where we all should be.  Never stop and always be a "Newbie", when you don't, you get old and dead!

Funny how if someone came up to any of you and mistook you for being under 21 years old at a bar, you would be completely flattered.  Yet we're 'offended' by the Newbie status?  I would think people like Bob, Vern, Pete, Jeff, JD, Jim, etc, really wouldn't be too concerned.  Anyone is anyone already knows you guys are 'da man' in this hobby!

I'm much more concerned with where the popcorn emoji went?

As an actual 'Newbie' from the pre-crash site, I'm not feeling too bad about my bottom rung status on this new site but I can understand how those of you who have been around a while might feel slighted by that title. But there is good news! As I recall I had 30-40 posts on the last forum and I was still a Newbie. It appears that you attain Jr. Member status after only 20 posts on the new forum so not only does the site run quicker, you're promoted quicker too!

And now I'm one post closer....

In regards to the title of this thread or post. All the regular posters and  "informed SME's" (subject matter experts) are already known. The Bob Gaines, gt350hr (Randy Gillis) Coralsnake (Pete Disher) acman63, rr64, Jeff Speegle, tlea and many many more. With previous posts 1000+ to well beyond 10k+ are acknowledged without having to say who they are on the New forum.
Everyone has a certain writing style from shelbydoug, myself, Bigfoot and vernestes.
My recommendation is just continue doing what you normally do and not worry. Have you ever noticed at the bottom as to who is on? Guests vs Users? The percentage of guests is normally 3 to 5 times+ more.
All the regular forum members are already known! When I ask, who is in charge or the moderator of the day to day posts regarding "parts for Sale"? You know who that is. Without saying, he'll delete your comments (i mean that in a good way) on a for sale thread.

And yeah... I'm now a newbie too.

Cheers,

Well, I've never heard of a General attempting to hide in the ranks as an enlisted man but I have heard stories about Lt.Col's and Col's doing so.

It is kind of dangerous because the working soldiers view them as incompetents since they have forgotten the short cuts involved in the basics and tend to stand out?

I think that there is a little of that going on here? The draft dodgers who couldn't get away, currently working on buck private don't know what they don't know so everyone in their eyes is FUBAR?

I want my sidearm back.

I just noticed this...I'll introduce you to Viagra. When you meet her, you will understand why she is called that? She's very friendly. No prescription needed.  ;D

She's European. I think she just spells it with an accent? I'm not sure? We never get to talk otherwise I'd ask her? I never get passed the V. :)

Jeez, now I'm quoting myself.

The cool part about the Bullwinkle show (Alumnus of WhatsamattaU) was that there was kid humor and adult humor.
As a kid I laughed at one set of jokes.
As a teen, there was another set.

But the true star -- besides the genius of Jay Ward --  was June Foray.
It's said that "She's not the female version of Mel Blanc -- Mel Blanc is the male version of June Foray."

Besides Rocky, Natasia and Nell she did almost every voice in the industry from Cinderella (as the Cat) onwards:

From what I understand, no. There wasn't any point in keeping track of who used to be a member back then. Membership lists were just updated periodically and basically used for mailing out the newsletter/magazine.

If you expired, you didn't get one 'cause you weren't on the list anymore.

As a matter of fact it might be that it took 30 years before Rick figured something might be going on? OK, OK...maybe 25 years?  :)

I can't believe I had 5353 posts on the old version. I'll be a senior one of these days. I want to get out of "blue pill" status.

BTW - it's a good thing they don't determine "newbie" status based on what you actually know.  If that was the case, I'd be "infant to 6 months".
