Post by: allens shelby on May 29, 2019, 06:04:22 PM
Hi everyone,
I just purchased whats left of a 1965 mustang fastback and it has some shelby stuff on it and I was wondering if it may actually be a real shelby or just a k code fastback. The vin number is 5r09k any info will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Allen,

You will have to check with Howard.  He will be able to tell quickly.  The VIN has the correct form 5R09KXXXXXX for a 65.  Is there a title?  Is there a SAI VIN stamped on the right inner fender near shock tower?  Is there a doubler welded to firewall/cowl flange?

Please, let's see some pictures.

Cory

I would suggest removing that VIN just in ask and email the 65 registrar Howard Pardee.

Yeah remove the VIN off your post and email Howard. Like to hear more about the car and some pics  but don’t share your VIN

What Shelby stuff is on it? Mechanical stuff? Cosmetic?

Cheers
