Up for sale is a 1966 Mustang Shelby GT350 Fastback. It comes equipped with a 289 engine with an automatic transmission. The color is Wimbleton White with Blue Racing Stripes. The entire history on this vehicle is unknown. All that is certain is that its a Southern California Car that seems to have been well taken care of wright up until the accident. The motor does turn over. It will not start or idle because it has a hole in the gas tank that was made in the accident. The car comes with a SALVAGE California Title. It is sold AS-IS with no warranty! I have provided the VIN number to this vehicle, so buyers please do your diligent research on this vehicle before bidding. I don't know much about these classic cars, I am basing my information from what i physically see on this vehicle. All that I know is that it was towed to my storage yard after the accident. The owner and the insurance company released owner ship to me. I have title in hand.
C code Dearborn VIN given in the auction. Not a real GT350. Also has a 6S077 stamped on a SAI looking tag under the hood.
Still has it's factory blue interior..... always a plus-
Well that was a easy one to figure out!
Credit to the seller though, he has updated the Ad (he actually seems like a genuine seller)
Sure looks like one o those Eleanor things to me.... ::)
Now "Barn Finds" is presenting this as a legit Shelby.

A tip of the hat to Brian (singleton_ford here on the forum) who spotted this Barn Find listing & shared the link with me. Thanks, Brian.

Good parts vehicle
The Southfield, Michigan plate screwed to the middle of the dash is another nice touch. Probably a prototype...
It's now showing on foxnews.com.
This is a true "glass ( not diamond) in the rough" alright. Nothing better than a pile of repop parts especially when they are wadded up. Why Fox news picked it up is even more ridiculous. Must be a slow day for other "important" news.

Getting a bit ridiculous.... bid to $50k at the moment. :-[
Well he's pretty much hinting that it could be a Shelby, playing dumb that he has no way to authenticate it...... however in big bold print he spells out if you're stupid enough to bid on it, you bought it. And you can't take legal action for the Shelby implication. Seems pretty sneaky to me. If he was on the up and up he would remove the auction and relist it as a Mustang with a bunch of reproduction parts sold as is with a salvaged title.
Especially with all the attention it's getting. I wonder if Fox news will interview the lucky stiff that buys it?
Obviously you can't fix STUPID!!! If the seller doesn't get sued for false advertising OR get hit by the feds for VIN tampering , I will be amazed. $50 grand is too much for a clone in PERFECT ( not wrecked anyway) condition. Where do they find these people?

I think Fox just reposts what comes up on Barn Finds.
Somebody needs to stop by the donut shop and a hot dog stand to get the cops and a lawyer involved. ;)
It's on many social media sites, being ridiculed. So much is wrong, it's hilarious.
I want to know who is bidding, has to be a ghost or fake bidder
I assume the real 6S077 is MIA?

71 bids is a lot of fake bidding! Makes it look like there is bunch of interested party's I guess.
If he really wanted top dollar he should have gone for the possible carry over angle. Could have captured a bit more of the hysteria.....
It looks like it has the ultra rare Tremulis rear spoiler ::)
Here's a link to the Fox News coverage of this FAKE car:

At least they do have this at the top of the story:
Update: Following the publication of this article, the seller said it is possible that the car is a replica, which it has since been confirmed to be Fox News Autos.

There is some history of 6S077 in the Registry. Nothing since 2002, but it's certainly not missing in action. The real car is out there.

The right thing to do is cancel the auction....
Whats the allure to spend 50 k on a c code totaled fastback. And the bids are climbing at an astronomical rate. :-[
Wow this is phenomenal, It does demonstrate what little knowledge there is about these cars in the community. Scary
So it has 71 bids and is still at $50,000. And it is not even a tribute to anything from SA considering the mix of add-ons. On the plus side, at least he is willing to up date the information and retract the earlier bids. That is rarely seen by other false listings and never by Pookie. 8)
You gotta give the seller credit. He did add this to the end of his listing today:
********BUYER BEWARE UPDATE**********
After communicating with a lot of knowledgeable Ford enthusiasts on Ebay. Based on the actual VIN # of this vehicle, They all have informed me that this is a 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback GT350 Shelby TRIBUTE. A true Ford Shelby VIN # would be 6R09K (Hidden under the Shelby Plate) Based on the VIN number on this Vehicle it represents a 2 barrel 289 car. If you have bid on this vehicle thinking it was a original Shelby please retract your bids and bid accordingly.
My sincere apologies for any confusion. How ever in my defense I did mention on my ad that I was not certain of the authenticity of this vehicle.
I guess they took out the windows and put the sail panel vents back on,,,, ::)
No idea how this is happening. Maybe he has a shill bidding friend who is just going a few grand higher than various uninformed legitimate bidders and somehow there is someone or someone's who think they may be getting a deal. Like I said I have no idea how this car is getting so much money.
The seller really can't be more clear that this is not a real car. I would also love to find out if the deal is actually completed once the auction ends.
16 bids ...$2550.00 currently listed as 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback, a little more realistic :)

$15,100 still overpriced. Those MEAN Shelby guys cost him $35,000 by "exposing" his car as a FAKE. Fox News should print a subtraction to save face in light of their stupid article. I'm not holding my breath.
Randy
Interesting to review the bid history and occaissional jump in offerings. This modified Mustang with major front and rear damage has most likely been written off for salvage by the insurance company and is only a good parts car. Getting the car back to drivable condition and past salvage title level is going to be very costly.
