Title: 65 Instrument Cluster Lamp Socket
Post by: mygt350 on June 05, 2019, 08:11:56 PM
Have a 65 Mustang instrument cluster and am having hard time keeping the oil and alternator lamp socket in the cluster. Socket will stay in place until you move the cluster, then it falls out. What do you do to keep the socket inserted in the cluster? Replace socket with something that fits tight, glue it in or something really drastic?

does it have little prongs on it? If so they can gently be bent outward.

Its the plastic socket with two wires. It has segmented areas that used to create holding friction but over time, the metal to plastic has eroded the socket and it will not stay in place. Think its .625 diameter. The metal sockets have the tabs and they are holding strong. The plastic socke4ts are the problem.

Do they fit in and turn to lock?
