I just learned that my car may have been mentioned in a SAAC article titled "Peruvian Connection". I searched previous Shelby American overviews on the SAAC MemberLodge and couldn't find the title. Does anybody know where I can find this article. It apparently had a photo and/or text of a few cars being shipped to peru including 6S949, 6S382 and 6S1066
The Alvarado, Yangali (Hertz) or Alzamora Shelby ... I think Emilio Fort contributed an article to SAAC between 2011-2013 or it was written earlier in 2005, when Luis Lamas P. shared his big photobox of the peruvian cars. Can't find it instantly in the pdfs. If 2005 it might have been the paper version only.

I remember the Headline for that story and looked at my 2010 through 2019 Shelby American annuals, it was not in those so it must be in an issue prior to 2010 as stated above.
Thank you both for your help. TransamEd, if you can help point me to the photobox it would be greathly appreciated. I was tipped to this lead by the current owner of 6S494. I'll do a search for V. Bratzos this evening. Also, if anybody can point me to a copy of the paper article it would be greatly appreciated. Do you think I can contact SAAC directly for this?

Are you talking about Bratzo Vicich versus V. Bratzos. I think so. I'm in contact with his daughter Andrea. She's confirmed that her father purchased my car 6S1066 from Yangali. I'm trying to get photos and docs from her - she's an incredibly busy person who's doing great work throughout the world and rarely home.

Andrea is very active indeed for social projects.
The photos of the white S Shelbys are from Luis Lamas Collection and if you contact Howard Pardee (Registrar) you will certainly get them. Yangalis car was black during his period and published in some articles. A friend lived in Peru and remembers the car very well.

yes, indeed green. The registry pretty much has the history of your car listed. I guess you have the entry from registrar Howard.
I had quite early researched those peruvian cars, could be even that triggering article was in the early R-Model SCOOP leaflets from Howard. I got them all thanks to him in the late 90ies, early 00s. I now have a clearer picture of that article in my head, reason for taking the same title for the website (with permission).
With todays medias it's way easier to find this stuff and the Facebook site has more than I had.
Back then it was about finding people like Benito Lores, Bratzo Vicich and bugging them to respond. My friend Gary Hanson was in Peru and tried to get hold of Bratzo. He did not pick up the phone unfortunately the day he was there, though he had confirmed his availability that day. Things get sometimes in the way of a thrilling date. Andrea kept sending stuff later on, I am very grateful to all these people sharing their information, but it was also hard work and taking monthes. With a question posted today it takes minutes or hours to get the answers. Things have changed definitely.
I got the article from Emilio Fort (if my file system doesn't fool me) that you saw on the peruvian Facebook site and shared it as well as everything from Benito or Bratzo, Emilio Fort and Patricia Barrios or Nicolini with Howard back and forth. Car looked black to me there. The page says 1971 and that corresponds to the result sheets.

Then I see Arnaldo Alverado raced some too. I need to list these all out, if it's even possible.
Bratzo seems to be easier to follow as he seems to stick with #403.
I'm still not convinced the photo of the R model wrecked and burned out is 5R540.
It could be 5R211, noted as later rebuilt.

First time publishing of "Peruvian Connection" from SAAC was in or around 1991 in R-Model Scoop #2.
The article relates to the full article in a following Shelby American. Could not find that issue instantly in my piles, but should be then in 90-92. This article below does not contain anything on your car however. I post only page 1, I think it was only available to R-model owners.

Richstang: Thank you all for your help. I hadn't seen that one site with the results. Thank you for posting it. My new friends in Peru sent me a 40th anniversary book on the Caminos del Inca. It's got some articles discussing the race. Apparently on one of the races (I don't recall which), yangali drove to the finish on a blown tire.
TransamEd: I hope you don't mind continuing the search. No rush but if you get around to it I'd appreciate it. Thank you so much! I'm waiting to hear back from Andrea. It may be a few weeks because she's so busy. I'm hoping to find more photos and a date from when Bratzo bought it from him.

I need to correct: the R-Scoop no 2 was published in June 1983. I forgot that between no 2 and 3 there were 9 years😳 So the Shelby American related issue should be from 1983 or 1984. Reason why I could not find it in my pile. Maybe someone else has them.

The Article is in Shelby American #54. This is the one with the zebra striped 65 GT350 "Z" on the cover.
