Title: Post a Picture of Vintage Inspection/Registration Stickers from your Car(s)
Post by: rbarkley on August 12, 2019, 09:44:34 PM
While looking at the 69 GT 500 in the Auction section, I noticed that it had a a Vehicle Inspection Sticker from 1976. Pic posted below.
I like seeing those along with other items like buck tags from the 65-66 Mustang.  They are great for record keeping and nostalgia.

I had two on my car when I purchased it.  A 1977 Vermont indicating 59,908 on the odometer at the time of the inspection and a 1978 Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Registry.  The Massachusetts sticker did not have as much info indicated as what was found on the Vermont.  The previous owner was from Massachusetts, but went to school in Vermont.

Anybody else have any old stickers?

Ron

Not a Shelby, but these are on my '32 Ford coupe that has been stored in a barn since 1955.

I forgot, I do have some from a GT350. These were on 6S033 when I purchased it in 1999.

TOBKOB,

That looks very similar that NC had back in the day. With the months running vertical with 6 on each side and hole punched for given month.

I'm going to see if I can find one here locally.

Those are great. Thanks for sharing. Grant, you win with the oldest 1954-5. Your 32 Coupe was still considered a classic in 1954 with that registration!  I like how they use the check mark for Brakes, Horn, Steering, Lights, W.S. Wiper, Glass.  I guess it would be a X if you failed the inspection. LoL!

I retained this sticker and last license plate from my 1968 GT 350 convertible. Original windshield means more to me than clarity. Just me

843 had one of these stickers. You couldn't add the NOX device to cars with mechanical distributors. This is from a Boss 302 site.

Depending on the year you were trying to register the car in one of the way around this was installing a regular vacuum advance dist and then installing a Kar Kit that blocked off the vacuum. Along with a little clear sticker for the speedo. For a number of years I did that and swapped out the cam to get my GT350 to sail through the tests rather than deal with the referee station. Other owners just swapped license plates with another car (same year) they had since the test stations didn't always check anything other than the license plates to the paperwork.

At one point BAR wanted (read required) that you drilled a hole in the intake manifold and retrofit a valve in the hole  ::)

A little outside the purview of this thread, but I saw this decal for sale and thought it would fun to modify.

Easy to change the year to 1968 and make that a line drawing of a '68 Shelby.

+1. My 67 GT350 has its original windshield and a sticker from 1976. There is a star chip towards the bottom of the driver’s side. I had it filled (so as not to spread), as, like yourself, the original windshield is more important to me. Plus, the chip (about the size of a dime) is below my line of sight.

I'd forgotten the name Kar Kit, but I recall that I had to install it on a '69 Pontiac Grand Prix I had in 1974, to get it to pass the CA visual inspection.  It came with the clear sticker for the speedo that warned to not exceed 60 mph with the system installed.

That sticker may have simply been some sort of faux warning in order to comply with CA  inspection. That was back in the early days of the 55 mph national speed limit, of course.  I can't see how blocking off the vacuum advance would cause damage above 60 mph...or anywhere. I do that occasionally on a vintage car that has trouble with part-throttle detonation due to crappy gasoline.

Just double check the sticker you are interested in for correctness... ;) Look at the '74/'75 Georgia sticker then look back at reply #3 and you will see what I mean... :)
