Title: Shelby GT350 racecar
Post by: Tomtomgta on September 02, 2019, 01:54:30 AM
Hello everyone!

I'm Tom and I'm from Luxembourg (Europe) I race in historics with an Alfa and was thinking of moving up and getting a Shelby Mustang (especially to do Le Mans Classic).

I recently got an offer to buy one, it's Chassis number is 6S2032. I have contacted the registrar and ordered the printed Registry but unfortunately it seems the package hast been lost in shipping so I haven't received it yet.

I was wondering if any of you knew anything about the car?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Tom

Hi Tom, I have 6S2020, close to yours.

This is from the 2011 registry, hope this helps.

Saw and took some pictures of the car in 2017. Was red with a Paxton at that time. Licensed out of North Carolina at that time unless I have the pictures miss marked

I saw Dave Eber a couple of years ago and he owned a red '66.  I believe it's the same car.

I think it would be a good racing car. I remember when Don Nesbitt used to own it back in 1997. Eventually completely rebuilt to R Model specs. I couldn't imagine it being returned to stock condition, especially concours class.

It’s not the same car. I currently own 6S2033 - it is however red with a Paxton and registered in North Carolina.

Hello,

Thanks for all the answers, especially the photos of the registry. She is in full R spec now, 2nd car to be prepared as such by Cobra Automotive, so that's how she'll stay.

Here's a few photos how she's now.
Still have to do the man maths for the price, what do you think she's worth?

Thanks a lot again!

Tom

Maybe ask Cobra Automotive for a price to duplicate it from a Mustang fastback.
They do good work.

Sorry for changing the subject but, do you know if that is a real C-Type or a "recreation" in your photograph?

My absolute favorite, unfortunately these days, if real, I would have to sell everything I own to be a player.  The closest I ever got to owning one was back in the '70's I was considering purchasing a factory rolling chassis but minus body work, for cheap money, even then, but the vintage racing rage had not really taken hold yet, so it was just an old car sans tin (aluminum) work (remember these are a space frame chassis, so it would have been a true "re-body" in panels); I decided nah.......  I'll hold out for a better more complete car latter, another decision I have regretted.         :'(

From what I've been shown as Paperwork and from the car itself this is a real Shelby (if that's what you mean by type C?)
Although an S not an R it was converted to R by Cobra Automotive in '97
Here are pics of the badges:

Oops, sorry, I assumed everyone understood that the "C-Type" in the photo was the Jaguar.  But then this is the SAAC Forum, so my bad.       ::)

Wow, had to take a double take. For a minute thought the pictures were of my 6S2055. Even the car #53. Then noticed no Weber’s.
