Title: Mid-America Tulsa & SAAC-45 OVERLAP PROPOSAL
Post by: 68blk500c on October 16, 2019, 11:17:31 AM
Dates do not totally conflict.  Tulsa dates are June 18-21 (Thursday – Sunday), while SAAC-45 Indy dates are now June 17-19 (Wednesday – Friday).  Because they are fairly close geographically, it looks like that given some official scheduling cooperation, it would be possible to accommodate particularly the Concours Judging (typically one day) so that an owner could make both events.  This could also work for the general car show participants as well, which is Sunday in Tulsa.

How about exploring some cooperation that might benefit the car owner, while really not detracting from either event?  Have your cake and eat it to, with a little interstate on the side?

Wouldn't give u much time at either event with all the driving involved. Wicks has been a good supporter of SAAC, sure wish they wouldn't of put Saac 45 on top of his event.

I may be mistaken but I thought there was talk that the Tulsa dates were condensed to June 18-20. The talk was for combining the car show and drag strip on Saturday so as to eliminate Fathers day as a show day. I don't know if that was scrapped or not. The conflict of dates will make things difficult .

After going to the SAAC convention for the first time in almost 10 years, and a 25 year attendee of Tulsa, there is no comparison if you’re into the old cars. I think I have been converted to an annual SAAC attendee, with or without my car. Hopefully I can be a volunteer to help as well. Rick

I agree, Jim has been a major supporter of our Hobby. Mid America has been going on since 1974, so this will be the 46th show. Mid-America 2020 is the first year since I have been going that the car show will be Saturday morning and drag racing Saturday evening. I have been going to Mid-America since 1983. Wish they had not put SAAC the same week as Mid-America. If possible wish SAAC could be changed, even if it is not a big name facility. Which could also mean, cheaper cost and more track time.
