Does anyone know the exact dimensions of the rear GT-350 placque??? I have a Scott Drake repop, an early 80's one [NOS???] purchased from Tony Branda and one purchased from epay [supposedly original!!!. What should the length of the ORIGINAL be???
Thanks and all the best,
Steve
4 1/2" long x 15/16" high
I had 2 originals (had them before repops were made) and they were different sizes. If I remember one was about 1/8" narrower maybe 4 3/8 - they went with 843 when I sold it.
There was a long thread about this topic on forum v1.0. IIRC there was some variation in originals. Did anyone document that info?

Ding ding. Now, opinions Mr. Spock.
The original from 6S477 is 4-1/2 . Valley Ford Parts had some made that were 1/8th short and the Drake part is way short as was shown. Acsco redid the die many years ago and the depression around the posts showed up on Genuine Ford Service parts as well as those that Branda sells.

Thanks all...good to know.
Cheers,
Steve
My question is now whether all repros fall short of the 4.5 x 15/16 dimensions or are there reproductions floating out there with the aforesaid dimensions as well.
Found these photos on my old computer. I saved them from the crash of SAAC 1.0.

Yea those are my pictures, the top one was a repop, the middle I bought because the seller said it was original, The bottom one is on our car, the close up shows the same type of swirl machine marks. I dont remember where I noted the measurements,
The middle one also seemed to be painted a silver color and not bare metal like the other two. Still have the other two I believe.
The top one repop of the three displayed has two dimples on either side of the posts which the middle one does not have as does the picture at the top of this thread. Plus the font for the G and number 3 looks different. The G on the repop looks like it narrows on the horizontal line of the letter G and the horizontal line of the number 3 looks longer on the middle one.
We need Indiana Jones on this one. That isn't the cup of a carpenter...that isn't the G.T. 350 badge of a retired race car driver from Texas...choose wisely my son.
So MANY choices!!! Thanks for posting the photos from 1.0.
Cheers,
Steve
You are welcome. But the G.T. 350 emblem must never be removed beyond the seal...

And.......the plot thickens faster than the mesa flour in a Carroll Shelby chili kit. See below for details.

I say buy them all and set them up on a rolodex rotisserie on the taillight panel so you can flip to a different one each day depending on one's mood. And maybe a measuring tape in a small glass box strapped to the bumper that reads: "In case of emergency, break glass."
For the record I have the one like the eBay link and the 4.5 incher with no dimples as well. The slightly shorter one is presently on big red. Now considering my rolodex idea. Maybe I have chosen poorly.

Thanks for posting! I didn't see these posted prior, and they are very helpful.
I had purchased the middle painted one from Craig Conley, So I dont question its originality. So not sure if I remember from the old forum if the 65 plates were larger than the 66s but I believe the sensus was that the smaller one was correct for the 66 as all my research was for 6s1902
I'm curious. I've heard that repops have a flattered surface on the black painted portions of the "G.T. 350", and originals have more of a curved surfaced on the black painted portions.
Anyone know if this is true?
Now what?
