Title: 1967 Shelby Mustang original hubcaps
Post by: stephen_becker on November 29, 2019, 02:05:05 PM
I have a nice original set of 4 that I am going to sell - I do not see these come up for sale very often - Any idea what they are worth?

Like a lot of things it depends on condition . It also depends on which version of emblems used on the hubcaps . There are original style ,late service style not used on assemblyline and then replacements made from cut down tenspoke emblems.

Can't open the files...

I can open them, just a new form of image compression by Apple.  Microsoft Edge browser opens them, amongst others.

Whatever you do, don't stack or nest them! Not even for a second.
And if you freight them don't think that putting some foam between them works either.
I can't tell you how many previously nice hubcaps I've received in the mail ruined by people thinking you can nest these like teacups.

The back side of the hubcap is exceedingly sharp and cuts into the foam and spokes like butter.

I don't use Apple and I can't open them either. I use Peaches.

What is with these Apple people? They're as conceited as Corvette fanatics.

My car originally came with hubcaps.
Somewhere in the ownership chain they were replaced with Torque Thrusts -- not even D's and not even 15".
I decided to make it a hubcap car again.
And then came the costs. The hubcaps are very expensive. The steel wheels are very hard to find or very expensive or both. For extra credit I wanted mine to be date code correct. I now have all 5. I lucked out and bought some of the last new special lugnuts around which were also not cheap. Just need the Dill tire valves and tires.

For the price of doing a hubcap car I could have bought enough Magstars for all the cars in my Mustang fleet (4) by now.

But, they look so cool and different compared to the 98% of the Magstar or 10 spoke cars out there. And they are correct.

Agreed-the caps are a great look but no cheap date.  I have a driver quality set (to use as a spare set) on my 350.  Marti and SA docs. indicate the car came with M-Stars but I wanted the option to run with caps.  Also have 2 nos sets (most in the original boxes) plus 2 more nos that could be used on the spare.  Also have a complete set of the special lugs in the Ford boxes.  Bought them all years ago and have enjoyed watching the prices.  Am considering selling one set w/ or w/o the spare but likely not the lugs unless you really twist my arm.

Not my area, but I suspect because they are essentially the same as other Ford covers, the price remains fairly low.

1968 wheel covers are unique, creating a lower supply
