Happy Wednesday Friends!
Here's SAAC NJ's Winter 2018 Newsletter for your enjoyment.
Please feel free to share it with a friend!

It includes sad news about the shuttering of racing at Raceway Park!

Enjoy,

Thanks guys,

It's not hard to believe they closed Englishtown to drag racing. People who live in the surrounding area probably had some influence in that decision.
I know Atco, in Southern New Jersey, has had petitions from residents to get it shut down. The part that amazes me is they were there before all the houses were built around them. People buy a home there knowing the track is around the corner and then complain it's too noisy...HUH!!!!

Thank for the event updates too!

That's how they killed Bridgehampton as well.

Do you think that the people that moved there in the last 52 years didn't know there was a drag strip near their houses? Seems like they could have grandfathered it in. I have many good and some bad memories about the track, mostly good

Thanks for the all the replies on Raceway Park!

So sad to see the drag racing ending there. I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision for the owners. So Raceway Park ends it's racing like other great and gone NJ tracks, including Flemington Speedway, New Egypt Speedway, Trenton Speedway and many more.

There will still be carting, BMX and other activities on site. I have been told that realtors selling homes in the area were required to provide a disclosure on the track. There is also a sound ordinance with time curfew constraints and only a certain number of unmufflered event dates.

I spent a few Friday evenings there in my youth.  Good harmless fun, and kept me from racing on Rt. 22
