Title: Mechanical (solid) lifter
Post by: paul on January 18, 2020, 03:19:52 PM
While assembling a hipo 289 motor, I discovered that one of the valve lifters was damaged in shipment. Upon opening the box of lifters, the package of assembly lube was empty(crushed) and lube had saturated the inside of the box. After looking closely at the lifter, it's not physically distorted but it will not easily go into or out of any of the lifter bores in my block. Also, all the other lifters will easily go into and out of any/all lifter bores (not a bore problem but lifter).
1) Is it important to use same manufacturer?
2) Does anybody have a source for a single mechanical lifter?
3) Does anybody have a partial set that they be willing to part with?
Thank you, Paul @817-691-0159.

   Paul ,
All solid lifters are made by two major lifter manufacturers in the USA.  The "crown" ( read slight radius) is the same regardless. While some look different , a lifter for a Ford 289/302/351/429/460 are all the same. You should be able to buy a single off of Rockauto, epay  etc. If I had a single , I'd send it to you n/c but I looked and don't have a broken set.
