Title: '67 Hubcaps ?
Post by: oldcanuck on January 24, 2020, 04:51:20 PM
Mine need some attention, but am I seeing things....?

Is there 2 background colors painted on, or just one ?

Looks like flat black on the outside, and a med grey on the inside ?

Thanks,
Bob

The "vents" or vent surrounds are yet another color.

Now that I have taken mine apart and have clean the components up fairly well, I am wondering..... should I leave them original or re-paint ?  I know they are only original once ........

Also, any one know the actual paint codes or names ?  The attached thread doesn't seem to be definitive.

Thanks again,

A couple things to consider, can you come up with comparable paint (shouldn't be too hard given you have examples) and is the rest of the car unrestored (original paint etc.) ? If the car is mostly restored (paint ,tires, engine drive train brakes ) then you are past the point of compromising the original integrity of the car anyway. Fresh faithful looking hubcaps in the already restore car context will only enhance the look. If the car is a unrestored survivor type time capsule then leave them alone. Just my opinion others will have different.
