Title: Richard Barnes SAAC Member--Mustang Ranch
Post by: capecodmustang.com on February 07, 2020, 07:44:27 AM
I received the sad news that a longtime friend and SAAC member passed away a few weeks ago
in Colorado

I had the pleasure of being involved with Rich numerous times over the purchase of Shelby's.
We traded or purchased numerous Shelby's from each other over the years.
You might remember some of the article's about Rich flying to Europe to secure an automobile
collection with 5-6 Shelby's involved.

One of the interesting Shelby's I acquired from Rich he brought back from Belgium was a
1970 GT 350 Convertible that was originally shipped to Madrid.  It's one of three Grabber Yellow's.
I also purchased 1967 #16 from him.

In the later years Rich was involved in the 05-06 GT's.
You might remember his advertisements ending in "talking is always free".

He was a real gentleman.
He was only 56.

Sad to hear that.  Friend brought a Pantera from him a while ago.  Great car.  About the only bad thing I can say about him is the IT guys called when I googled "Mustang Ranch" at work . . .

RIP I also talked and mailed with him over the years, nice guy and he always had some nice finds. I always thought 10-15 years ago when I was talking to him, how do I ship the car from colorado middle of nowhere to germany.

That is sad to hear. Talked to him over the phone a few times. My wife and I meet him Saturday before the Shelby American Collection Annual Party and Show. He meet us at his shop. Then we followed him to the Party with my wife and I each getting a chance to ride in his Heritage Addition Ford GT. Very nice guy introduced us to some of the people at the party.
