Title: 65 HiPo Fan
Post by: Silver Bullitt on February 12, 2020, 04:56:23 AM
My understanding is an original should have "FoMoCo" stamped on the blade. This appears to me to be a repro with the "SC" used in replace of the "FoMoCo". I remember hearing about someone stamping repro's as a filler to the real deal was sourced and this appears to me to be one of those. Can someone knowledgeable take a look at this one for sale?

As far as I in know you correct. Mine is original and has Fomoco in the old style running script on it.
That’s a repo Iam pretty sure
Cheers

I'm sorry, I don't see the difference. What am I missing? Thanks

The light in the auction is bad.  The E65 date code looks legit, but need better light to see the joggle in blade outboard of rivets, absent in repop.  Enlarging the image shows the joggle, so it is legit OEM.

Looks like there is a silhouette of the fan spacer and some witness marks.  I have 2 nos blades and shine of paint doesn’t look right to me to pass as NOS.

I have not seen an OEM absent the "FoMoCo" stamping has anyone else? The fan at auction appears to have "SC" substituted for the "FoMoCo" stampings...

Knowing Schwitzer made numerous automotive parts related to fans and viscous clutches, wondering if the "SC" letters stamped on the blades signify the fans were originally made by Schwitzer?

The metal stamping, embossing, is reversed on the pale of the  repro versus original one, easier too see when in hands ...

Of my two early service NOS blades, they have FoMoCo on each blade.  One dated Nov 65 and the other Jan 66.  Not sure if services parts several months earlier did not use the logo, but appears the logo was being used on assembly line blades and service parts the end of 65 and into early 66.
