Thought might be cool to see what's on everyone's cars!

My '65 GT350 Tribute is now making progress. It's not yet on the road, but I did get my plates, so I'm ready to rock when the time comes.
I dislike the Idaho "Famous Potatoes" moniker, so I modified the State Slogan:

My '19 GT350 also has a vanity plate:

Actually removed it years ago and went with a period plate on the rear only. Gave this plate to a good friend in Australia foe his collection...
I picked up a set of original 1967 Texas plates off Ebay. I still have the original Black and Yellow set that was on the vehicle when I bought it. The last tag on the plate was 1977.
These are photos of Shelby's taken in the 1980's showing license plates in SoCal. Some of you likely know the owners?
;)
Plate on car since early 1970's.
French License plate
Belgian original license plate circa 1971.
My 66 and 17
Mine says GT350HR like my screen name.

Hi to Hans....Brian... ;D
My original tags in 71-72 and today's tag
Original Tags AL (American Legion) my dad had gotten them at the DMV and he was a member of Post 226, hence the medallion and tags, he thought the car needed them, he had me as a member of the SAL (Sons of the American Legion )
The latest tags I got when I put it back on the road in 2012. GT350HZ
This one is boring, I know, but someone asked.
On our 69 Mach. Tag issued in June 1988.
The tag John Barnes had on the car before I bought it. I wonder if he still keeps this registered???
Now has Florida 1965 tag that I purchased from a nice member in North Carolina. I still have these tags as Texas lost the Ford license in 2014 or something like that and sent a letter to REMOVE the Ford vanity tag...I did not!
All the best,
Steve

I used to have 6GT350 here in CA and also had GT350S on 6S240 ( now in England). I literally swapped 6GT350 for GT350HR which I now have.

(//)Don't any on my Shelby, will wait for my move first! But here you go!
I give up trying to get photos to be right side up! Please turn your head! See above.

I didn't know there are 8-digit plates in NY. That means lots of new Shelby-derivative words now available to be displayed.

As far as I know they always had 8, I got that plate back in the 80's I used the max because I thought 2 SS were taken, 3 SSS I thought would just not seem right, I chose the max at that point.....fill it up.
Then I saw someone got on with one less S than mine! LOL
I was very lucky to get this matching pair for my 2 cars.

Nice Craig! I was thinking about going looking for '06 # 477 but haven't taken on the task yet. It would be nice to have matching vins .

What would be really cool would be locating a Shelby/Cobra diecast car (Franklin or Danbury mint) with a serial number that matches your car. That would take a lot of luck!

Here's a picture of my old 67 with its first plates in TX

Yes and I don't think I'm that OCD LOL. The big problem is 6S477 was/is white and all of the '06s are obviously black. If itr weren't for that I would have started the search already. Maybe I'll leave that to the future owner of 477.

I may have a weird sense of humor but I put this one on just to see if anyone would notice. Some have. I actually found an original set of valve covers on a farm truck so maybe its appropriate.
I'm not good at identifying Mustang model years, but I spotted this plate on a nearby neighbor's late model car. I didn't bother taking a picture since I don't know how to post them. Anyway, it's BETTERL8

06H477 has some interesting history. The very first rental customer, from LAX, was auto journalist James Groth who featured the car in a article written for Auto Aficionado magazine. Later in 2006, #477 was rented by Joerg Maltzan, Autobild editor, and featured in 2 Youtube videos where it was driven.........how can I describe it.......spiritedly?

Here is/are and currently the license plate to CSX2079 "SNAKE" and has been since 1974 (blue/yellow personalized California plates).
Tom told me a funny story about these plates that took place prior to the movie "gone in 60 seconds" circa 2000. He told me some time in (I think it was 1999) he was contacted by a representative from Touchstone pictures requesting the use of the plate "SNAKE". As the plate was in inactive mode by California DMV records but still owned by Tom. At the time 2079 was in storage. Tom agreed. The plate was used in the scene where the Hummer in the garage was stolen during an evening college pool party. The Hummer had a live Snake in it. The camera panned to the plate that read "SNAKE". True story from Tom.
Here it is with me in 2079.
Cheers,

For the first 40 years I owned my car, I had the plate GT 350H. I got so tired of people asking me "Does the "H" stand for HURST?", that in 2016 I had finally had enough and decided to take their ability to ask that question away from them...
...and I decided the best way to do that was to remove all speculation, and put the word HERTZ first.
Now what they ask me every single time is, "What year is that?" :o

As always I am in awe of how clean and neat your car is, the bottom looks better than the top of most cars.
I keep getting the question for mine , "is it real"

Thank you!!! 6S477 was LAX based too. Maybe in it's "thrashed" condition it would be "affordable" for me LOL. Any idea where it is now? ( I know I'm being lazy and should look for it myself)

purchased this 67 in 2018 of the original owners
they were also sick of being asked by everyone " is that real "
very nice couple and were sad to see her go
The expression "CA black plate" used to mean that the car had been continuously registered in California since the 1960s. That is no longer true, as you can now retro-fit the old style yellow on black plates to 1960's era cars. But when you see a vehicle with a stack of yearly registration renewal stickers, it is a pretty good bet the car is a lifelong California car. This Shelby, I think from 1969, spotted at a 2018 gathering at the Shelby facility in Gardena, is a one owner car.
My dad had this one on his Cobra while he had it...
Never had another one....

Unfortunately, I don't know where it is today. All I can tell you is that it was registered in San Francisco from '08 thru 2012.
Many thanks. I may start looking.
Mr Hank Williams. Am hoping that Jay Leno gets Hank and his Cobra on his show eventually. Would make a great episode.

Hank is a super nice guy. Attended many car shows with him. He greets everyone with smile, and any young boy or girl is welcome to sit in his Cobra for a photo. I heard him assure the parent, "it is okay, what can they hurt". He would be an interesting story for Leno's show. Much better than some in the past.
