That's interesting as mine was delivered with the emblems installed. I was on the lot when it came off of the truck and mine was the only one of the 5 that had the Shelby emblem under the snake. April 14th build, May 6th delivery.

Trunk unit. Replacing it solved the problem. We did a work around for the 2 burned pins in the under dash harness.

Ended up being the 53 year old taillight sequencer. Shorted out the 2 pins in the harness so we replaced the sequencer and created a work around for the harness pins and now working like it should.

Thinking now it may be the old original sequencer. Getting power back to the taillights but it's intermittent. I appreciate all the tips. Opened the sequencer box for the first time, and it's looking rather corroded inside.

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / No brake lights

Guys:

I got a puzzler. Brake lights quit working, so replaced the stoplight switch. This has happened before, so replacing the switch has always solved the problem. Old switch tested good on the bench, but I still replaced it with a new one. It was working fine on Friday, but when I tried it today, no brake lights again. Any suggestions of where else to look? Original/unrestored '69 GT-350.

Thanks.

I have always used a long wooden handle screw driver to remove the springs On mine. I run the shaft of the screw driver through the attaching loop of the spring, holding the handle in one hand and the shaft of the screw driver in the other. Mine have always come off easily using this method. I take them off over the winter, and this has allowed the hood to just relax back into it's normal contour. The car is 53 years old and unrestored, and I've never had any form of serious hood arch doing this.

Will this work?

Tor:

That would be me. Of the 4 cars on the truck when mine came in, only mine had the Shelby emblem under the snake. The other 3 didn't. Of the remaining 3, 2 of those were offloaded at Koons and were destined for Hertz at National Airport. I think the other one was headed to the Richmond, VA airport. The other 3 were all GT-350's in the Grabber colors.

And Bob is spot on. These things were all over the place with what was done.

Interesting answers on this question. When my '69 GT-350 came in, both the snake and the Shelby emblems were already applied. Coincidently, as I type this, it was at this time 51 years ago today, I was finishing up the paperwork and getting ready to drive it home. I had been at the dealership all day long, and it finally came in on the truck, lower deck rear, at 4:30 p.m. I had ordered it in late February and the dealer held up the order pending a credit check, even though I was trading in a '67 390 GT Mustang and paying the difference in cash. Car was an April 14th build. It's still original and unrestored.

Talked to him at the NRA show a couple of years back when he was there to judge the show. Nice enough in person, but said the filming gets in the way of work. He told us then that he agreed to do only one more year of the show at that time. Someone asked him if any of the customer's bill was paid by the producers, and he said "no". He did say he doesn't endorse any of the equipment used at the shop, but in the last year, that changed. And yes, he got a pretty good payday from the Discovery Channel for doing the show. He told us that new hires were forbidden to "talk" on TV unless they had been employed there for more than 6 months.
