Up For Auction / CSX7080 for sale on BaT

I thought I would mention that my 7000 Series 289 FIA Cobra is currently for sale on Bring a Trailer. Here is a link to the listing. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2017-shelby-csx-7000-continuation-cobra-289-fia/ . I know it's not a Shelby Mustang, but I know many of you also have Continuation Series Cobras too. I've been a SAAC member since the early 80's when I owned a red 66 GT350, SFM6S1007, and a red 1970 GT500 Super Cobra Jet Drag Pack car. I'm always amazed at the wealth of information offered on this site. Perhaps some other member might find this car to their liking. The rolling chassis and drivetrain installation was handled by Jim Cowles and his team at Shelby Parts and Restoration during the 2014-2017 timeframe. I know Jim passed away early last year and we lost a great man for the hobby. Jesse Bourdeau, one of his assistants, is still working there with the new owner. If interested please read the details I listed in the comments section of the listing to see and hear about all of the things to make this car unique and a very fitting tribute to CSX2323 one of the 5 original FIA cars. Bob Gaines and Vern Estes are both familiar with the car and have seen it at both the 2017 National SAAC Convention at Indy where it took 1st place in the popular vote for Continuation Cobras, and at the Mid America Shelby and Ford meet a couple times. The car dyno'd at 557hp, has the period correct Cobra aluminum intake and 48 IDA Webers, a 6-bolt Cobra scattershield, the correct irridium tipped toggle switches, a painted aluminum dash rather than the factory leather covered dash, and a blueprinted concours restored T10L aluminum close ratio 4-speed transmission. Jim added the auxiliary fuel tank in the trunk like the original car and the correct brass tank switch on the floor. The car currently shows 476 miles and I am the original owner and ordered it new. The auction ends Tuesday the 31st and I know someone will be able to get a great car and skip the multi year wait for a new one. PM me if you have any questions about the car. Thanks for your time.

Jessie, thanks for letting us know about Jim. We’ve been praying for him since hearing about his illness. I know he was a big part of your life as well as the Shelby community. We will have his family and yours in our prayers.

I'm sorry, I should have been more specific on my post about the Kansas City Region SCCA event. We welcome other clubs to join us and I can have 10 guests with my credentials which entitle them to our reduced ticket prices ($15 for Adults and $12 for Seniors 60 and over) and 20% off on all concessions except alcohol. We currently have 109 of the 160 seats filled, so if anyone in the KC area would like to join us send me a PM and I'll get you hooked up. I can reserve a spot for your trailer as well if you trailer your car to the event. Once again here are the event details https://www.kcrscca.org/special-showing-ford-v-ferrari/ . Thanks

I started attending back in 1983 and this video is a great trip down memory lane. Our good friend Bob Gaines is features at the 32.10 minute mark. Enjoy.

Thanks Steven for the link, and those are the Blue Streak tires, something I might want. What I was actually referring to are the tires in this picture

Posted by CSX2259. I saw a car like this at the SAAC convention in Indy (it may have been the same car). I asked where he got them and he said he had them made. I'll reach out to him via PM and see what I can find out. Thanks for taking all the time to share info on the CSX Continuation cars.

Back to the original question, I own CSX4836, I bought it used in 2010 with 250 miles (I posted pictures in an earlier thread in the same section), and CSX7080 which I ordered new and had delivered last year. It was finished by Jim Cowles and Jesse Bordeaux at Shelby Parts and Restoration. It was at the SAAC convention last year at Indy. . I have the Goodyear billboards on both, but I really like the look of the Avons made to look like Goodyear Blue Streak (I think that's what they are called) tires. Who is the supplier for those tires as seen in the picture in the gallery? I looked at both Sasco Motorsports and the Roger Krause sites and didn't see those specific tires. Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, it can smoke the tires! Thanks for all the nice comments. It seems like I have a thing for red Shelby’s, my 1st was a red 1970 GT500 drag pack car, vin#2318, then a red 1966 GT350 #1007. It’s funny, #7080 is the first Shelby I’ve owned that isn’t red.

I'm checking to see how easy it is to load pictures on the new and improved forum.  This is CSX4836, I purchased this car from David Furray in 2010 with 250 miles. I features an all aluminum bored 427 with 621hp at the flywheel. It is a blast to drive.
