I would not be surprised if the driveshaft was replaced at some point with a junkyard item.  To the original owner, the car was just transportation and getting it fixed cheaply was the goal.  The only thing that gave me pause was the stripes on the driveshaft matched the build sheet.

Is the no tube in tube for a GT350 an absolute? The reason I ask is the car has a couple of unexpected items on it such as a deluxe shifter handle, not wood, and the original owner said that's the shifter it came with.  Plus, the build sheet lists blue, blue and pink for the driveshaft stripes and the driveshaft itself has the same three stripes.  Could be a coincidence on the stripes.  I don't mind getting a different driveshaft just want to be sure.  Thanks.

It's time to restore the driveshaft on my 1969 GT-350 with the FMX transmission.  The driveshaft is the tube in tube type at the axle end of the driveshaft.  I can send to Deadnutson but they will replace the axle end yoke since the tube in tube type yoke can't be rebuilt by them.  Or, I can attempt to restore the driveshaft using the article I have seen in this forum.  If it makes a difference, the driveshaft has 200k miles on it and U joints appear to be the only service ever done. The rubber between the tubes looks solid.  From a judging perspective, does either way of restoring the driveshaft make a difference?

Are these factory markings or something a mechanic may have done decades ago?  I have never see them on another car and don't want to reproduce them if they don't belong.   It's a GT-350 built in December 1968.  Thanks.

Trying to determine how best to refinish the grille beauty ring - see photo.  The ring looks to be aluminum and is not missing any of the mounting points.     
I know it's supposed to have black paint in the center groove, but I don't know how shiny the part is supposed to be.  It's an early build car if that matters.

Should it be chromed, or just polished?  Thanks for the input.

Removed and cleaned off the grime from the console in my GT-350 (early build, Dec. 1968) in order to evaluate what needs to be done to restore the console.  The woodgrain on the console insert (see pic) appears to be dark walnut, not the light teak of the rest of the vehicle.  Trim code on the build sheet is 3A and while the instrument panel in the other picture is light teak, the steering wheel looks to be walnut.  This was my father-in-laws car and he bought it in 1970 from a neighbor who could not afford to keep making the payments. 

Is the console insert woodgrain a production anomaly and should have been light teak?     

Should I correct the issue and use light teak when the console is restored, or leave it as built with the darker woodgrain? 

Would a judge accept it if I can prove that's the way it was built?

Was there a running change to the fender molding (eyebrow) during the production run of the 1969's? 

The first picture is of the original moldings off my car, built 12/18/68.  Notice how the metal folds at the edge, all around the part, top and bottom.  The mounting tabs were held in with two sided tape, not welded. 

The second picture is a 'service' part I purchased to replace one of the original molding that is damaged.  Notice the metal does not fold up at the bottom edge of the part as with the original.  Also, the metal at the bottom edge does not fully cover the mounting tab and leaves a gap at the bottom edge when attached to the fender.

Is the part I bought truly a 'service' part?  Also, was there a change to the part during production?   

I am sending my originals to Paul's Chrome to see if they can be repaired.  Just wanted to know if I wasted my money on the part I bought.

The shifter handle is the same as in my car 9F02M480083.  My father-in-law bought the car new and gave it to me 30 years ago. I know for certain the shifter handle is original and has never been replaced.  Thought it was odd, but nice to see someone else has the same item.

Does anyone restore the fog lights? Or, is it best to get reproduction or good used units? 

I recently removed the original fog light set from my car.  No dents, rust holes, or broken glass in the fog lights.  Just medium corrosion inside and out and the wiring needs replacement.  The car is an early build GT-350 - December 1968.  I would hate to throw out parts that could be rebuilt.  Thanks.
