The Lounge / Small Block Ford in an MG
July 07, 2018, 12:52:48 PM
Hello guys,
Haven't been on much, retirement is so much work...
Our local MCA club (Front Range Mustang Club) met today at a very nice Cars and Coffee in Lafayette (Denver) CO. There were hundreds of really nice cars that you most likely have see one of at some time. But I wanted to post a picture in the Gallery of a clean MG that had a small block Ford installed. It had the sound.
Hope all is well,
Frank

Growing up we got to drag race around northern VA and then raced the stockers at Old Dominion for 10 years. I never have been on a road course until a couple of weeks ago (Pueblo Motorsports Park). We went to High Plains Raceway (HPR) in Colorado on Saturday with the Denver Shelby Club and had a great time. Of the three, not speaking to one being easier over the other, road courses require more track memory. Blind drop offs and blind turns will get your attention if you're not careful. There were many different types of cars, Honda S2000, Lotus, Shelby (old and new), Porsche, Ferrari, Viper, Cobra Continuation, Corvette and other performance cars. Because of the slow tight turns some of the lower power light weight sports cars do pretty good. The GT350 is a blast to drive and helps fill in where lack of experience starts.

If you have a Shelby or performance car that is OK to take out on the track, I think you will have fun memories to take back home with you. The Denver Shelby Club has two more track days scheduled this summer.

Here is a video taken by my son on one of my early laps:

My Grandson wanted me to take him and two friends for a ride today for his buddy's birthday. They laughed and were talking loud the whole ride except when we stopped at a light. One of them kept saying "Hey they are checking us out."

The Lounge / Shelby Club Pueblo Track Day
April 22, 2018, 10:16:36 AM
Hello and hope you all are doing well.

Now living in Colorado just south of Denver we joined the local Shelby and MCA clubs. Both clubs have events each month so lots going on this Spring, Summer and Fall. The first track event was held yesterday by the Shelby club and Kim and I drove the new GT350 down and got it out on the track.

I wanted to show you guys and gals a picture of #2246 (hopefully I remembered the Shelby number correctly). Bill owns this 66 GT350 and bought it back in 82. He has done track days and raced his Shelby since 82. What's even more impressive is he drives to the track for all events.

Also one of the guys brought a modified 69 GT350, 500+ HP with suspension mods. Other nice cars and good people made for a great day at the track.

See the Gallery for pictures of #2246 and the 69 GT350. (I posted the pictures in the user gallery)

The Lounge / 1960 pictures of Carroll after USAC win
March 29, 2018, 11:57:50 AM
We retired and moved to Denver last June and while recently applying for a building permit in Castel Rock we stopped by a small historical site. In side they had a display covering some of the track history for the Continental Divide Raceway. CDR was operated from 1959 - 1982 and then sold to real estate developers.

I added three pictures of Carroll driving the race winning Scarab in the Gallery.
