CSX 2000 Series / Re: Daddy bought me a Cobra!

   I bought my first car in 71.  It was a 65 mgb.  The poor thing was devestated by harsh northern winters and did not last another five years before being consumed by rust.....may she rest in peace

SAAC Forum Discussion Area / Re: Mice Advice, Please
« on: August 31, 2020, 03:33:44 PM »
I gave up years ago trying home remedies.  I live out in the county and the mice run rampant. ( In the city they have rats.)  I put all my cars in bubbles.  I haven't had a problem with mice since I started using bubbles. My wife has  a 97' Z3.  Ever since the mice got in the trunk, nested and ate the wiring , I surrendered. The repairs were very costly.  Thank the lord it was not my Shelby. Car bubbles have been my answer to the mice problem.

Concours Talk / Re: glass etching stencils
« on: April 24, 2020, 08:30:04 AM »
Tim;

    I have a gold concours 1956 Austin Healey.  Original windshields are nonexistent.  A gentleman named Richard Gordon had glass etching decals made to be etched onto the glass of the windshield to make them look authentic.  He has a whole process to etch the decal on to the glass.  If done properly it is undetectable. The company who made the decals was Rayzist.  They are in California.

to keep this in perspective... so far less that 100 people, in the USA,  have died from this new strain of corona virus.  In 2017 the CDC reported that there were over 80,000 deaths related to the flu virus in the USA.       Be smart.....avoid large crowds.... and wash your hands frequently.  We struggle to understand viruses and unlike bacteria which can be combated with antibiotics  viruses can be much more difficult to treat.  The sample size we have at this point is too small to be statistically significant but we need to be smart to keep this from becoming an epidemic like it is in Italy.  If you start to feel something coming on STAY HOME and contact your local CDC for instructions.  The goal is to minimize the spread of the virus.  Those that are at the greatest risk are infants, elderly, and immunocompromised people.  You don't have to quarantine yourself but don't be stupid either.

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Re: GT500KR unrestored

the console gauges are incorrect.  it's hard to tell from the second picture but the center console, between the front seats, may have been changed , too.   Tim Lea restores old console gauges and would be a good source to start.

Concours Talk / Re: Concours rule change
« on: March 13, 2018, 02:10:53 PM »
it is interesting to note that the concours standards can be so different for different makes and models of cars.  I am in agreement that if you are going to show your car in concours then it needs to be restored to it's particular original state, including exterior color.  For instance, in Austin Healeys,  they have written concours guidelines.  They allow original color changes,  road worthy tires, and  upgraded valve covers and coils without deductions.  The nicest part is the WRITTEN guidelines.  That way the standards are shared by all, not just the elite few who have done countless restorations.  Why is it we don't have written guidelines?
