1967 Shelby GT350/500 / 67 Underdash Gauges
« on: February 06, 2022, 10:29:33 PM »
What’s considered correct on the underdash gauges screws or no screws on the center vertical trim piece?

My cars original gauge pack has zero holes in the trim piece nor the rally pack bracket? Zero! It’s never been off the car that I can tell. All the repo stuff and even the assembly drawings show screws. Which is considered “correct”? I’ve seen plenty with zero screws but 3 times more with screws?

Thanks! Matt

I cannot find any images out there, anywhere, on this wiring harness clip. This is based off of my memories but does this clip look correct? Any details or dimensions of an original or pics? I’ve reached out to a few here but no responses yet?

Thanks!!

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Hood Latch Support and In Board Lights
« on: May 22, 2021, 07:30:45 PM »
I’m currently restoring my car and after layers of paint removal from the hood latch support bracket and in board lights bracket. What finish is this bracket? What finish are the headlight buckets as well?

The hardware holding my buckets on appears to be original as well, what finish are these? Everything was painted over and over!! I believe the hood latch and striker are a phosphate finish. Any help and suggestions is greatly appreciated!!

Matt

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Is this normal?
« on: December 21, 2020, 08:25:42 PM »
Any body notice anything here odd?? I see LOTS of pics out there of this area and they all have holes in the sides of the cowl. Is this normal not to have holes? I’m looking specifically at 67 Shelby’s and mine has none? Seems odd...

Any ideas? Thanks!

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / What are these holes??
« on: December 04, 2020, 06:02:48 PM »
These single holes on each side respectively are in question?? What are they there for? I’m drawing a complete blank and can’t find any info on them? They are both right above the hood hinges. Any HELP!!
I’m about to button up the engine compartment.

Thanks!! Matt

Appeals / SPEC Rearend Chunk
« on: October 14, 2020, 07:29:12 PM »
Everyone,

I’m trying to find more info out and possible asking pricing for a SPEC chunk I’ve recently acquired. I was elated as can be to find one FINALLY and this one is in great shape! It is a 3.89 ratio (GT350 I believe?) but it also has a Trac Loc installed too. The SPEC casting is upside down?

I’ve also since found the original SPEC case for my car!! It’s a 3.50 ratio “open” unit. The previous owner took it out and thought it was junk because it had no posi!! It sat under a bench for 28 plus years!

I’m gonna sell the 3.89 SPEC unit as I no longer need two. What’s a realistic price to ask? I’ve only seen a few through the years even offered for sale and NEVER one in person. Are they really THAT rare and hard to come by? Appreciate any help here.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / HELP! Did I mess up? Primer/ Body Prep
« on: October 07, 2020, 10:00:32 PM »
Everyone,

I’m trying to get my car to the body shop to get painted. I’m trying to detail the underside and engine compartment before paint and then follow the paint overspray patterns. I washed off the Ospho and dried everything off. I scuffed the underside with 80 grit and used “Rustoleum Professional Primer” to help keep the flash rust from starting. I have a few places I needed to detail out with bondo from drag racing damage. The car immediately started to flash rust pretty good. I was planning on using the SPI epoxy “Red Oxide” as many do. Now I’ve been told, I messed up, I need to remove all the rattle can primer with lacquer thinner down to bare metal again? I’ve tried a few areas and this primer has bit in and won’t come off!!

How do I fix this? Should I leave the primer on and scuff it like hell and take the chance or?? I didn’t expect the Rustoleum Primer to bite in that well but it sure did!!

Regards,
Matt

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / 67 GT500 Export Brace and Fiberglass Question
« on: June 20, 2020, 11:36:15 AM »
This export brace was on my car and believe it to be original to the car. I’ve just never seen another car with the multiple pattern holes. Ive met and know the original owners of the car and neither replaced it nor would know to replace it. My car has a few other interesting pieces on it that really don’t make sense either with the fiberglass. Totally different mounting techniques? Thanks for any and all the help!

Matt

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / 67 Shelby Fresh Air Vent
« on: April 11, 2020, 02:40:59 PM »
What was the correct fresh air vent used? I took a plastic unit out of my car but I’m not sure what’s correct? We’re San Jose cars different, plastic vs metal, than other plants? The Metuchin 67 my sons stripping down has a metal unit. Thanks!!

Parts For Sale / Cobra 427 Valve Covers
« on: April 14, 2019, 02:15:26 PM »
I have set a really nice set of Cobra 427 valve covers for sale. Probably the nicest set I’ve seen. I’m not sure if original or not but definitely not a newer casting. I found these in trying to locate my LeMans valve covers.

Looking for $450 plus ride. Thanks, Matt

Parts For Sale / 67 GT500 Valve Covers
« on: April 14, 2019, 02:09:45 PM »
I have a set of original 67 500 valve covers. They’re in really nice shape but have been polished at some point. The “LeMans” lettering isn’t as pronounced but still nice. There is one crack at one mounting point, very common. I’ve had 4 sets of these and are the second best set I’ve ever found.

Looking for $650 plus ride. Thanks, Matt

« on: March 10, 2019, 05:08:54 PM »
I need help here please. What is the actual plating needed for the door latch and stickers for a 67 Shelby?? I see all silver, some gold cad and a mixture of both??

What other items can I throw in the mix that will need cadmium plating??

Thanks and Regards!

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Anti Wrap Up Bracket Hardware
« on: December 09, 2018, 09:04:41 PM »
All my hardware was pretty well tarnished. What was the plating used on the hardware? Was it cad plated or zinc phosphate? Trying to get the correct finish back on the car. It appears they were sprayed with undercoating over them too (partially), is that correct?

Many thanks!
Matt
