1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Engine build dates
October 28, 2023, 10:20:53 PM
OK, there are two places in which my original block is stamped with assembly date codes: 1) just in front of the left side cylinder head and 2) on the oil pan rail near the block casting number and casting date. Both are 5L3 (November 3, 1965). Would one of these be for the short block and the other for the complete engine assembly? If so, which would be which? If I were to speculate, I'd say that the one on the pan rail would be for the short block making the other for the complete engine. Thanks for any information.

Wanted to Buy / C4 Neutral Safety Switch
May 20, 2023, 02:54:10 PM
Looking to buy a new or good used Neutral Safety Switch (C9ZZ 7A247-B) for a C4 automatic.  This part is recently obsolete from Ford.

I purchased a Danial Carpenter reproduction and even though this is a "Ford Official Licensed Product" and is a "Ford Classic Parts From Original Tooling" it is still made off shore. Had I known that I would not have made the purchase. I have not had good success with parts coming in from off shore. The quality is just not there. So anybody got anything? Thanks.

Not sure what category I should place this in.  Anyway, take a look at the surprise at 7:20.

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Collector Gaskets
July 17, 2022, 11:57:24 AM
Reinstalling the Tri-Ys on my Hertz car.  A 3 inch collector gasket is to large and a 2.5 inch is too small.  Before I go ordering something else, what is the correct size and does anyone have any suggestions as to what to buy?  Headers are back in place and tightened down on the heads.

1969-1970 Boss 302/429 / 1969 Boss 302 values
January 28, 2022, 08:57:08 PM
This one is a cringe worthy read.  Has anyone here heard of a Ford Mustang Boss 8?  And was also available with a Boss 351?  And some have sold at auction for over $1,000,000?  Neither did I.

I seem to recall that this same author had penned an earlier article that she did not bother to fact check either.  Opinions?

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Anniversary
July 17, 2021, 09:11:25 AM
Today marks the 54th anniversary for my G.T.500 which was completed by Shelby American on 7/17/1967.  I bought it when it was 10 years old on September 2, 1977.  That makes almost 44 years of ownership.  It has been a ride.  And mostly a good one.  Wouldn't trade it for anything.

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Crank Pulley
June 28, 2020, 01:49:33 PM
Is there anything special about the '66 crank pulley or is it the standard 289 pulley that's installed on the Hi-Po?  Trying to collect whatever parts I still need for 6S817's engine build.  I ask because of the difference in balancer thicknesses.  Thanks in advance.

I have a couple of questions regarding Hi-Po Autolite 4100 carburetors.

1. Other than the dashpot, what is the difference between the manual transmission version of this carburetor (C6ZF-C) and the automatic version (C6ZF-F)?  Is there a difference in calibration?  I know the secondary boosters are the same (stamped BA) but are the primary boosters (stamped M or MA) different?

2. The attached picture shows two styles of Autolite 4100 manual choke brackets.  The question is which one would be correct for an early February build Hertz car (shipped 2/10/1966)?

Thanks for any help provided.

Looking at all the pictures of old events reminds me of conventions past I have attended. I've put up photos of a few of the early ones on my website. I always like to identify the cars in the pictures if possible. So set the Wayback Machine to 1977 in Hershey, Pennsylvania and SAAC 2: http://www.s-techent.com/Shelby_Web_Pages//Galleries/SAAC_Conventions/SAAC2/SAAC2.htm. SAAC 2 was the first convention I had attended. I was just blow away and in awe of the sight of so many Shelbys and Cobras in one place. I got my first ride in a Shelby at that convention not realizing that two months later I'd be the proud owner of a 1967 G.T.500 which I own to this day.

And here is the link to SAAC 4 in the year 1979 in Downingtown, PA: http://www.s-techent.com/Shelby_Web_Pages//Galleries/SAAC_Conventions/SAAC4/SAAC4.htm. I did have my G.T.500 at that event but somehow I missed taking a picture of it. By that time my G.T.500 had a stablemate in a G.T.350H. Life was good.

Some of the cars are identified but many are not. I'd appreciate it if members would take a look and take a stab at identifying any cars that aren't. I'm sure that Cobra Ned will be able to ID most if not all Cobras. The man is simply amazing. Thanks in advance for taking a look.

Our Hertz car (6S817) has been in the family for over 40 years.  The original block came with the car when we purchased it.  I'm in the process of collecting parts for it.  The block casting date is 5K23 and the assembly date appears to be 5L3.  There is an additional character at the end of the date code that appears to be a "T".  Anyone know what that could possibly stand for?

I have also located a set of heads that are date coded 5H23 & 5H26.  Would these within the accepted time frame for a proper assembly?

Thanks.
