Anything out there for sale?

Original KH Magstar (Riveted) from the trunk of 1967 GT350 #23, mounted with a very bald, but show worthy Speedway 350.  With no tread, the tire and wheel actually fit inside the trunk of the flat panel taillight cars.
Would prefer local pickup (75098),but I will ship with a piece of cardboard front and back and stretch wrapped.
$850.00 + the ride.

System won't let me upload pictures for some reason.   If interested, send email to    randy.marble@gmail.com and I'll send pics.
Thanks

Wanted to Buy / 289 Plastic Engine Block

Anyone know who might sell a Plastic 289 Engine Block so that a guy could mock up with intake, valve covers and exhaust manifolds?

Better pictures to come when the weather cooperates, but wanted to give a shout-out to John Bessey and Bella at We Keep It Real Restorations for assisting with the transformation of these tires to have the Large GOODYEAR lettering.  For those interested, the tires are Avon CR6ZZ very soft compound purchased through Roger Kraus Racing.  The process involves shaving off the Avon raised lettering and then applying the Goodyear letters.  Picture of the 3 tires show the progression from Avon lettering, shaved and Goodyear letters.  They do this for other applications as well, but my early '67 had the larger letter Speedway 350's originally and I wanted the look, but also wanted to be able to stay in my lane when driving and I refuse to put the reproduction bias tires on the car.  The handling is massively improved as well as traction.  The Kelsey Hayes Magstars are original riveted units which have been taken apart, replated and put back together with rivets just like the originals.  Some say I know how to spend money...................Jus' sayin'.

Most everyone knows the story of Shelby having trouble fitting the E70-15 tires in the trunk of the earlier 1967 Shelby cars with the inset taillights.
In the interest of having a "real" spare, I purchased one of the reproduction Speedway 350 tires and had it mounted up on the KH Magstar.
Even with 10 lbs of air in the tire, I still can't get it to wedge in.
The tire I took out was a "Bald" original Speedway 350 and it actually went in and out.

Wondering if anyone else has attempted this maneuver?  I hate to take more out in fear of it coming off the bead.

Thanks in advance.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Tire Discussion
February 07, 2021, 05:10:52 PM
Just looking for opinions............yes, I know I'm probably opening a can of worms.

As owner of an early '67 and not interested in full concours restoration, I am soon to be in need of new tires as the current ones still have plenty of tread, but will age out.

I do not wish to run reproduction bias type tires as I drive the car to local shows, runs and events and prefer to stay in my own land so will go with a radial.

I see the BF Goodrich Radial T/A's as one of the most prevalent tires which gives the raised white letter look, but as we know, the early 67's came with the large letter GOODYEAR tires and can't seem to find a Goodyear tire in radial that is somewhat similar.

I did see that Goodyear now offers the Gatorback VR tire in 225/60-15, but they are blackwall.  That gets the original manufacturer tire on the car, but without white letters.

Looking around, I could only find a General and a Uniroyal tire in this size and they are also non-white-lettered.

Looking for opinions, thoughts & recommendations.

Thanks in advance.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Seat Belt Warning Light
January 30, 2021, 03:16:05 PM
My Seat Belt light has just taken on a mind of its' own.  In the past it used to come on for a few seconds after turning the ignition on and then would go out for the duration.
Now, it comes on and just stays on.
Anyone know what triggers it to turn off?

Thanks in advance.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / 1967 GT350 Motor Mounts
July 19, 2020, 04:16:05 PM
Needing to replace aging motor mounts in my '67 GT350.
Are these any different than a standard Mustang with a 289?
I saw one reference where a set of aftermarket motor mounts indicated that they wouldn't work with hi-po exhaust manifolds.
Comparing one that I removed to an aftermarket assembly from Napa, the one I removed appears thicker/taller by a bit.
Tried to install the one from Napa and it won't come close to lining up.
Advice / reference appreciated.

Well, for me, I had been hesitating painting the underside of the hood to body color as I kinda liked the matte black finish.  The darker color sure hides a lot of the imperfections of the bonding of fiberglass to the steel structure.  Once finished I have to say that I like the body color version better and it is now a bit more "original".

CSX 2000 Series / Shelby?
July 15, 2020, 06:27:23 PM
Curious if anyone knows what this car is all about.  Supposedly has a Shelby VIN tag, but is not really legible.
Was purported to be a Cobra "Prototype".
Anyone have a clue?

Thanks

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / 1967 Owners Manual
July 07, 2020, 01:44:19 PM
Moving to stand alone thread.
Pictures attached of the owners manual that was with my car.  Handwritten VIN# at bottom left and name on bottom right.
Has this manual faded?  Was it originally in color like the reproductions?
Inside, an owner has made a couple of corrections on rear gear ratio for the GT350.  Manual was printed with 2.89:1 and has been corrected to 3.89:1.
Interesting part for me is the weight comparison between the GT350 and GT500.   Hard to believe the over 500 lbs difference.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / #2995 - Ebay
June 16, 2020, 06:43:50 PM
Just a curiosity question please.   '67 #2995 is on ebay right now, obviously listed by a dealer.  The listing indicates that the car has all of its' original paint, but it appears that the lower rocker pinch welds are not blacked out.  Was this a running change on later cars?  Also, the listing indicates 8,900 original miles and the entire undercarriage is blacked out.
Thoughts?

Wanted to Buy / 1967 Taillight Socket
May 06, 2020, 09:21:25 AM
Looking to see if anyone has an old cobbled up taillight harness for a 1967 as I just need one of the taillight bulb sockets and would french it in along with the others.  Pictures attached show how mine is set up now and it looks like somewhere along the way one of the sockets must have failed or gotten damaged so was replaced with a more universal one.

Note the chrome cap nuts to relieve the owner of all the cuts from the taillight box studs sticking out!

Thanks for the consideration.

As many of you know, the stock Ford turn signal switch has a tough time keeping up with the amp draw from 6 taillight/brakelight bulbs and with early cars, add in the sccop lights.   My inquiry is to ask if anyone has tried to use 1157 LED bulbs for the rear lights and if so, what were the results?   Did it require changing out the flasher as well?

I've gone through 2 reproduction switches and finally found an NOS Ford unit and it seems to function fine, but would hate to keep "ponying" up the money for additional NOS units.

If you have experience / thoughts / recommendations, I would appreciate and value the insight.

Thanks

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Detail Paint Question
March 29, 2020, 08:41:58 PM
More progress today and more taking apart.
Looking to see who has the skinny on a good match for the Power Steering pump lighter blue color.

This whole quarantine thing sure can make a Shelby look good.

Thanks for the help.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Magstar Reproductions
January 20, 2020, 11:30:53 AM
Does anyone have experience in the quality / finish / looks comparison between the reproduction Magstar 15 x 7 wheels?

These at Summit:  https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sdk-lw30-50754b   $176.36 each

These at Cobranda:  http://www.cobranda.com/kehamawh.html    $559.95 each

And these on Ebay:   https://www.ebay.com/itm/332450239672    $450.00 each

Needing 2 that match what's on my car.  I can't find any identification on the back side of the 2 that I have other than a stamping that says: 70612

Appreciate the assistance.

Up For Auction / Mecum Kissimmee Auction - Today
January 10, 2020, 10:54:21 AM
It will be a very interesting day today watching no less than 17 Shelby Mustangs going across the block at Mecum Kissimmee.

Everything from '67 #168 to several '66 Hertz cars and quite a few 69/70's.

Everyone of course is waiting with baited breath to see what the Bullitt car goes for, but this day may start to set new expectations for current values on our cars.

Yesterday there were 4 cars.    '66 Hertz, no sale at $110k.   '70 GT500 modified, no sale at $82k,   '68 GT500KR Conv, no sale at $140k,   '69 GT350, sold at $70k.

On the no sale cars, you cannot believe the high bids as the auction reserves the right to Shill bid the cars up to close to the reserve.
