2006-up Shelby GT/GT-H / 2008 Shelby GT #710
November 06, 2023, 04:41:57 PM

I purchased this car a few months back and am trying to find some background info on it. It was originally sold in Utah and was registered in Sandy. It has a clean Carfax, but shows its had 10 owners including myself! It went from Utah to Great Falls Montana in 2011 and stayed in that area until it went to Missoula a couple years ago.  The decklid has been repainted and looks as though someone may have had a Fast and Furious type spoiler or something on it at one time as there is evidence of holes having been filled. It now has a 6 cyl or GT500 type spoiler on it. The hood appears to have been painted as well. Im assuming these cars were delivered to Shelby completely painted and they just added the stripes and hood scoops, correct? If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated.

I remember years ago one of the perks of being a member was an appraisal for insurance purposes was offered. Is that still available?

I'm curious about High Performance Motors of El Segundo Ca. I've noticed that they sold a lot of Shelby Mustangs, mine was sold new there, but it haven't seen it said that they were a full line Ford dealer. I know Ford dealers had to have the Shelby franchise in order to have new Shelby products to sell, initially anyway, then that policy changed when the cars weren't moving the way they hoped they would. As I understand Carroll Shelby was a partner in High Performance Motors. Can someone shed more light on that particular dealership?

A fellow Shelby enthusiast is fighting for his life after being severely burned when there was an explosion and fire while he was working on the water heater in his home. Gary Meuchel owns a '68 GT500 that he purchased back around 1976 and '67 GT500 #413 that he's owned for about 15 years. He owns Cherry Lane Motors in Lolo Mt, just south of Missoula where he specializes in the restoration of classic Ford vehicles. He and his shop were the subjects of a Car and Driver article written by John Phillips III a few years back. He was an annual attendee of the SAAC Does Vegas shows and the Team Shelby Vegas meets up until Carroll passed away. He and his wife are raising two of their grandkids, making this an even worse tragedy. If any of you feel like contributing to the GoFundMe account that has been set up for him that would be greatly appreciated. He's one of those guys who would drop what he was doing to help a friend, truly a great guy.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Any help would be truly appreciated. His wife and daughter will have a lot on their hands  trying to keep his shop afloat, take care of kids and help Gary during his recovery.

I received my '67 Shelby Registry yesterday and going through it I was able to find a couple cars I had come across when I was looking for a Shelby about 40 years ago. Among them was a '67 GT350 from Spokane Wa,  and a '67 GT500 from Deer Lodge Mt, but there were a couple I was trying to find that I couldn't so I thought I would describe them and see if anyone else recalls these cars.

One was a red '67 GT500 that was in Rexburg Idaho, or one of the small towns in that area. Auto trans, A.C. with outboard lights. I remember the owner wanted $10,000 for it, which was a bit much at the time. I was told that the engine block had been replaced because it froze and cracked one winter. It was a very nice car. I was looking for a 4-speed without A.C. and it was out of my price range anyway, so I didn't pursue it.

Another one wasn't actually for sale, but I saw it driving down the streets of Missoula Mt and followed it to it's destination. It was a '67 GT350 with outboard lights, Lime Gold with a Boss 302 type of stripe that came down the bodysides and up over the hood. I believe it was a Colorado car, auto trans I think, with chrome headers. The owner was in town for a wedding.  Another very nice car at the time.

Do either of these cars ring a bell for anyone?

The Lounge / 289 Cobra on google Earth street view
December 05, 2019, 05:30:05 PM
I was looking at Google Earth street view today, looking at Las Vegas Blvd. Right in front of The Cosmopolitan, heading South, is a black 289 Cobra with red interior, looks as though he's trying to turn on to Harmon Ave. Surprised to see it, but kinda cool.  I did notice that the website jumps around between years that the pictures were taken, but you have to view 2014.

Did they show up with the dual 4-barrels already installed from Ford? Valve covers? I have seen pictures of Mustangs in Shelby's lot without hoods, noses, trunk lids etc. Is that how they arrived or were those things removed at Shelby? Was the interior already in place and have to be removed in order to install the side scoops, roll bar etc.? Did they all arrive with steel wheels and then the Magstars (and ten spokes) installed by Shelby later for the cars that were ordered with them? Was there employees at Shelby mounting and balancing tires? Did Shelby have his own painters? Were the fibre glass parts painted off the car and then installed?

Things I've been curious about over the years that I've never thought to ask.

Thanks!

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / 1967 Shocks?
August 20, 2019, 10:20:06 PM
I'm sure this has been covered before, but I tried to search the forum and couldn't find an answer. I have '67 GT500 #589 and I'm trying to figure out what the original shocks were supposed to be. I always thought they came with adjustable Koni's but I have been told recently that that is not correct. Clarification would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Any recommendations on a reputable mechanic to diagnose a transmission issue on a "93 Lincoln Mark VIII with 48,000 miles?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

I've always been curious if this car has been identified and if it is still around. I'm assuming this is a Bronze car, but the color looks closer to Sunlit Gold from 1968 to me. Also wondered about the lack of Shelby valve covers in the photo. I remember that there was speculation that this may have been one of the 390 cars, but then I thought I heard that 390 cars had never actually been authenticated. Anybody know for sure?

Took these pictures 36 years ago today.........

Not a Shelby, but a custom '65 Mustang fastback with a bunch of Shelby stuff on it including '67-'68 upper side scoops, '68 taillights, '66 side scoops, '65/66 racing apron. Had flared rear fenders and a '67/68 style deck lid. At the time I sold it  it was maroon with yellowish gold Lemans stripes and big gold letters on the side that said "FORD" 4-speed A-code car. It went to  Iowa first then to Minnesota. I would post pictures however I'm one of the old guys that hasn't figured it out yet....

A gentleman restoring a '67 GT350 in Spokane Washington is looking for original end caps if anyone has any sitting around. He's a SAAC member but not registered on the forums so I told him I would post this for him.

His name is Clifford Johnson, his phone number is - 509-448-9575

Thanks in advance.
