1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Speedometer cable routing
June 29, 2022, 06:26:21 PM
I am getting close to installing the 428 back into #185. My question is about the routing of the speedometer cable around the steering shaft, Clutch equalizer or Zbar any help or picture would be appreciated. Also is the Clutch equalizer or Zbar installed before the engine or after ? Thank You Rick

My GT500 frame has three hole in the area that the Clutch Bellcrank bracket attach's. I assume that the front (most forward) two are for the bracket and what if anything attaches to the rear hole? Also the third hole (rear) is a hex with a drop in slug with 3/8th -16 thread. Have other Mustang had a similar hex slug ?The front two holes have something similar to a rivnut 3/8th-16 thread they appear to be factory. The middle hole's thread's were striped, my son came up with the idea that once we removed the original rivnut that we could tack weld a flanged 3/8th nut upside down. Should make a nice repair.

I found a brass tag about 1 1/4" X 1 1/2 " and a piece of bailing wire attached through a 1/4" hole drilled in it, that was in a baggie that had my fan shroud screws in it. On the metal tag were three hand written name's or one name Caryl Paul Fiod. Did employes at Shelby or Ford sometimes attach their name or did someone that repaired the radiator attach their name ? Any thoughts. Thank You Rick

I have a Bolt kit from AMK F-866 for the Clutch bellcrank (Zbar) Brackets for a GT500 big block. My question is there are 2 bolts with lock washers and 2 bolts with washer flanged bolts, which one's go on the frame side and which one's on the block side. Thank You Rick

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Pinion Snubber Bracket
March 22, 2021, 10:02:04 PM
I am trying to identify the correct Pinion Snubber Bracket for my car #185 Ford build date 12/01/1966. Marcus Angel Restorations has an specification of one used for 65 thru Nov of 1966 and another for Nov 1966 thru 1968. The early one is about 2.5 inches deep and the later one is about 3.5 inches deep on his spec sheet. Which one is correct for my car ? Thank You Rick

Finally we have paint on our early 1967 Shelby GT500, DSO #2501. Is been a long long project (about 6-7 years) to get to point where we could get paint on our car #185. I would like to thank everyone that posted information on how they did this or that and how their results turn out. I would especially like to thank a few people that answer questions or set me straight if I wasn't doing something the way it should be done. In no particular order Thank You, Jeff Speegle (also for his article on restoration support),Bob Gaines, JD, Coralsnake, 1967 eight barrel, Brian Styles, Chris Simon, Roland Duclos and a few other that I can't recall. Without help form the member of this site and others, I would have made a lot of mistakes. I will post a few pictures of some of the work along the way and the finished paint. Thank You Rick

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Third member paint
January 25, 2020, 01:13:20 PM
I am ready to paint the third member or center chunk of our 67 Shelby. I have 2 questions. Is the paint sheen, flat, satin, or semi gloss ? Would anyone like to divulge the color of paint they use ? It looks similar in color to the red oxide from the floor pan. Thank You Rick

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Seam Sealer on Drip Rail
May 15, 2019, 09:47:51 PM
We are getting real close to painting our 67 GT500.  I was reviewing Jeff Speegle's  Restoration Support document and noticed that the drip rails above the door window's need Seam Sealer. Because the body was blasted which removed the sealer, I don't know what size bead would be appropriate. His document does says to use self leveling but I could use a picture or two as a guide. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank You Rick

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / bumper to fender bracket
August 21, 2018, 06:12:25 PM
Is the bumper to fender bracket the same on 67 and 68 Shelby's ? I see different manufactures list 68 only and some 67 / 68 for the bracket. Thank You

Does anyone have the paint formula for Nightmist blue that they have compared to original paint. I recently had my local PPG paint supplier mix up some paint for use on the interior of my car. It looks beautiful but to me it looks more like a candy apple blue depending on the lighting. The exterior of my car had an awful paint job done on it and was peeling in some area's down to I believe the original paint that looked darker. I belive that original color Nightmist Blue on #185 should be more of a dark navy blue. That is why i would like to check his formula. Thank You
