Got my registry today - awesome! Somehow the wrong photo was used - bummer.

Thanks to all involved to produce and distribute the book. It's a difficult and tedious task I'm sure.

EDIT: Maybe a running updates and corrections topic? For example, at the time of the submittal (3+ years ago) #0066 did not have a correct for '67 rear axle housing and carrier... it does now.

Stupid question maybe but does the h-pipe need to come out to remove the transmission and bell housing? Looks like there could be enough room or am I dreaming?

Thanks!

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / 67 Tachometer Adjustment
April 02, 2021, 03:50:53 PM
My tach is about 200 rpm off, it actually sits at 200 with the ignition off. Comparing with a DMM confirms the offset.

Many analog meter movements have an adjusting screw, typically located in the front but generally hidden from view in some way. Before I start pulling the dash apart does anyone know if these tachs have a similar adjusting mechanism? Or some other adjustment mechanism like a trimmer or something and how would I identify it?

So much for having the gauge cluster "professionally" restored and calibrated... wish I'd checked it before reinstalling.

Thanks!

While I have the intake off I thought I'd give it a good cleaning. Any recommendations? Are any of those raw aluminum wheel cleaners useful and safe? There's a spot with a fuel stain I'd like to get rid of.

Thanks!

Just discovered I have a bent driver side axle shaft, looking for a replacement in good to excellent condition - asap. I'm sure someone has one laying around?

My understanding is these panels were installed with dum-dum between it and the original steel panel with a clear silicone bead around the outer edge and fuel filler/trunk lock opening. Can anyone share more about how this was/is done i.e. application, appearance, etc.? Pictures are always helpful too hint, hint.

Many thanks -

Looking for resources on how to identify a correct rear carrier housing (not the axle housing) for an early build GT 350. If nothing comprehensive available online then happy to discuss here.

All assistance greatly appreciated!

I'm totally ignorant on this, some would say on many things I'm sure, given the turn signal cancelling hasn't worked since I've owned the car nor did it have the original steering wheel - I suspect there's something I'm missing... like a turn signal cancelling cam or something? I do have a proper '67 wheel now and would like to get this working. Did the Shelby wheel use the stock cancelling cam or was it something special (lol, I should know better by now)?

Any and all guidance is greatly appreciated.

Trying to fit the spare in the trunk without success, it's hanging on the inboard socket. As demonstrated in the attached photo the taillight assembly protrudes into the trunk more on the inboard side than the outboard side. I don't remember if the socket access openings are of equal or varying depth or not. If they are of varying depth then is it possible the assemblies are upside down, or swapped left and right, or something? If of equal depth then any ideas as to what's gone wrong?

Thought I'd ask before tearing it all apart.

Thanks for the help -

What are folks doing with their Paradise Magstars as far as balancing i.e. lug or center-centric, hammer or stick-on weights? I would guess hammer-on weights would be more appropriate for the period?

How is the emblem secured to the dash, speed nuts maybe?

The emblem that came on my car when I acquired it had it's pins broken off and was glued to the dash, I've got another emblem with it's pins intact. If it is nutted from the back, is it secured from the back of the panel or the back of the dash?

Also present were what look like either black rubber or nylon bushings in the panel pin holes. When the car was disassembled I was thinking maybe the emblem was just sort of press fit into place but now I'm not so sure.

I vaguely remember (though perhaps incorrectly) a thread on the old forum that spoke about the single exposed screw at the rear of the door panel and how some cars got them while others didn't. Can someone refresh my memory?

When 0066 was disassembled there were remnants of what looked to be adhesive backed weather strip along the vertical sides of the frame the door sits in, no evidence of same along the top. Was it typical for there to be weather strip here and if so can anyone describe it?

After a looong rest and a seemingly endless resurrection GT 350 #0066 is back on the road – running and driving.

I parked it, running and driving at the time, somewhere around 2000 (last valid sticker was '98 but that doesn't mean much). Restoration was started 2013 and though not yet complete-complete, complete enough to drive. Still have some interior work left like finish the upholstery, door panels, hang the shoulder belts and various detail items. Plus some engine bay and trunk detail items but all-in-all pretty far along.

I have to say, the first test run last week was pretty hairy – steering was all over the place, brake distribution block was frozen favoring the rears... had to abort. But that's the fun part right? Not. Worked on both and much better now but still have to figure out the steering not centering as it should issue.

Having not driven the thing in so long I've lost all sense of what my expectations should be. My only reference is modern cars these days. I've taken 3 short test drives including that first and a recurring thought while doing so is I can't believe I used to drive this thing like I used to – like 115mph blasts up and down 15 in CT which by the way is a much different road today than it was 30 years ago.

Anyway, just thought I'd report another one is basking in the glory of it's like-new heyday. Can't wait until it's all sorted out but sadly, winter is upon us so spirited outings will likely have to wait until spring.

Thanks to all who've provided assistance, guidance, knowledge, parts and support. 0066 could not have gotten to this point without you.

Was it typical for the copper ground strap mounted on the passenger side of the cowl sort of clamping the hood to cowl weather strip, intended to ground the hood I assume, be left on at SA? You would think there would be a good path to ground through the hinges. NOTE: I'm assuming (dangerous business I know) it came on the car from Ford.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / 1967 Early GT 350 Radio
July 28, 2018, 10:11:15 AM
What would the correct radio be - AM/FM or just AM. I currently have AM/FM and the window sticker (was told the window sticker is original by the PO but I'm not convinced yet) shows a $57.71 charge for "Radio". Just trying to figure out what should be there. No I don't have a Marti report. Yes I know I should. Yes I will one of these days : )

What's the correct decal for the brake master cylinder - C6AZ-19542-A or ESA-M6C25-A? I know it was covered on the old forum and I've since forgotten.

Just wondering, is the black tape along the bottom of the bezel/cluster housing typical? I assume it's there to prevent light from washing out over the lower dash?

How about the rubber spacer on the indexing pin (for lack of a better description) - is that typical?

Sanity check please?

The rear lower interior trim panel (the one with the courtesy light) front edge sits on top of the door opening windlace rather than attempting to cover that edge with the windlace yes?

What do I need to know about the seat belt anchor bolts - I don't know what I don't know?

Planning on getting repros as the ones that came off the car are pretty rough but the repros I've found so far are different from what was there i.e. hex head (repro) vs Torx (or Torx-like). Are they all the same prior to 2/68 meaning regardless of body style and options - not are the fronts the same as the rears? Is there a difference in the fronts because of the shoulder harnesses?

Guidance appreciated.
